Study of the Effects of Heating on Organic Matter and Mineral Phases in Limestones
Published 2021-01-01“…Moreover, we reveal that most of the thermally induced variations are associated, in this range of temperature, to the dehydroxylation of goethite that transforms into hematite, as well as by the burning and partial release of the organic matter present in the rock. Colorimetry analyses show that the sequence of thermally induced changes can be followed by the evolution of the three coordinates, L∗ (lightness), a∗ (red-green), and b∗ (yellow-blue), of the CIE 1976 L∗a∗b∗ space.…”

Queue Length Estimation Based on Probe Vehicle Data at Signalized Intersections
Published 2023-01-01“…Then, based on the shockwave theory, the meeting time of the queue forming wave and the queue discharging wave are calculated after the green light is on. Finally, the queue length is summed in sections, including the distance between the last queued probe vehicle and the stop line during the red light period, the length of the subsequent vehicles arriving during the residual red light time, and the newly increased queue length within the queue discharging time. …”

Performance analysis of a VLC system with a new light source and joint step-by-step mapping spatial modulation
Published 2017-09-01“…A new type of light source in the visible light communication (VLC) system was adopted to realize the illumination and data transmission functions simultaneously. Also,a joint step-by-step mapping spatial modulation method based on spatial modulation and red, green, and blue (RGB) LED was proposed. The new light source consisted of white LED and one or more sets of RGB LED,where white LED provided only illumination and RGB LED was only used for communications. The color of RGB LED was controlled by power allocation and the color quality of the new light source was evaluated by color rendering index (CRI).Moreover, the bit error rate (BER) performance of the joint step-by-step mapping spatial modulation scheme with direct current optical orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (DCO-OFDM) at the receivers was also analysed.Simulation results show that the power of RGB LED can be adaptively adjusted according to different requirements of communication and illumination to meet the needs of different scenarios. The VLC system can achieve good BER performance with appropriate light group layout and direct current paranoia.…”

Image denoising algorithm based on multi-channel GAN
Published 2021-03-01“…Aiming at the issue that the noise generated during image acquisition and transmission would degrade the ability of subsequent image processing, a generative adversarial network (GAN) based multi-channel image denoising algorithm was developed. The noisy color image could be separated into red-green-blue (RGB) three channels via the proposed approach, and then the denoising could be implemented in each channel on the basis of an end-to-end trainable GAN with the same architecture. The generator module of GAN was constructed based on the U-net derivative network and residual blocks such that the high-level feature information could be extracted effectively via referring to the low-level feature information to avoid the loss of the detail information. In the meantime, the discriminator module could be demonstrated on the basis of fully convolutional neural network such that the pixel-level classification could be achieved to improve the discrimination accuracy.Besides, in order to improve the denoising ability and retain the image detail as much as possible, the composite loss function could be depicted by the illustrated denoising network based on the following three loss measures, adversarial loss, visual perception loss, and mean square error (MSE).Finally, the resultant three-channel output information could be fused by exploiting the arithmetic mean method to obtain the final denoised image.Compared with the state-of-the-art algorithms, experimental results show that the proposed algorithm can remove the image noise effectively and restore the original image details considerably.…”
