Characterization of Neural Interaction During Learning and Adaptation from Spike-Train Data
Published 2004-10-01“…Given that typical experimentaldata consist of spike trains recorded from individual neurons, probing the strength of neural interactions and their changes isextremely challenging. We recently reported in a briefcommunication [Zhu et al., Neural Computations 15 ,2359 (2003)] a general procedure to detect and quantify the causalinteractions among neurons, which is based on the method ofdirected transfer function derived from a class of multivariate, linear stochastic models. …”

A GA-BP neural network algorithm for fault detection of transmission tower bolts
Published 2025-02-01“…The feasibility of this algorithm was evaluated through the quantitative analysis of different damage degrees.ResultThe results are as follows: 1) except for the average accuracy rate of substructure 7, which is 89.74%, the identification accuracy of other substructures is more than 90%, indicating that the GA-BP neural network algorithm is effective in identifying the single-damage degree of the tower bolt loosening in the main material; 2) the identification accuracy of double-damage substructure is also more than 90%, indicating that the GA-BP algorithm is effective in identifying the double-damage degree of the tower bolt loosening in the main material.ConclusionIn summary, it can be concluded that both the single- and double-damage degree conditions exhibit a relatively considerable recognition accuracy. …”

Modeling of Flocculation and Sedimentation Using Population Balance Equation
Published 2019-01-01“…The process of flocculation and sedimentation was simulated based on population balance modeling (PBM) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD); the changes of particle or floc size and their settling velocities over time were examined. The results showed that flocculation is a dynamic and nonlinear process containing aggregation, breakage, reaggregation, and rebreakage between particles, microflocs, and macroflocs. …”

Experimental Study of Mechanical Characteristics of Tunnel Support System in Hard Cataclastic Rock with High Geostress
Published 2020-01-01“…The results showed that (1) under the condition of high geostress and hard cataclastic surrounding rock, the initial support deformation is large, the horizontal convergence is much larger than the settlement of arch, and the deformation duration is relatively short; (2) the distribution of pressure and stress in initial support are very uneven on the cross-section and greatly affected by the construction process; (3) in the case of large horizontal tectonic stress, the use of large curvature side wall support is beneficial to improve the quality of support and control the deformation of the structure, especially to improve the stress of concrete; (4) the closure time of the supporting system greatly influences the stress state and deformation, so it is necessary to shorten the length of the lower bench and the distance of the invert as possible so as to close the support as early as possible; (5) different location of the tunnel surrounding rock stress distribution is very uneven, the measured value is much larger than calculated value in level III based on the specification of surrounding rock; (6) under high strength and ground stress, the initial supporting stress of steel frame increases rapidly, and the measured stress is larger. …”
