Published 2018-04-01“…L'ideazione e la realizzazione dei rifugi sulle Alpi occidentali, sviluppatesi a partire da fine Settecento e durante tutto l'Ottocento, costituisce un passaggio fondamentale nel processo di scoperta e appropriazione culturale della montagna: la messa a punto di ricoveri stabili che consentono il pernottamento in alta quota, superando i precari accampamenti all'addiaccio, ne permette per la prima volta una diffusa esplorazione scientifica, alpinistica e geografica.Proprio i rifugi si configurano come catalizzatore del processo di trasformazione del territorio alpino da spazio ancestrale ad avamposto di conoscenza scientifica, «terreno di gioco» degli alpinisti, luogo di conquista simbolico-politica e successivamente di loisir dei turisti.In pochi decenni le guide alpine e le associazioni alpinistiche contribuiscono con grande impulso a questo processo, inaugurando la progressiva modificazione fisica del territorio dell'alta quota e aprendo la strada ad una diffusa colonizzazione edilizia e infrastrutturale in continua evoluzione fino ai giorni nostri.Il rifugio alpino e il bivacco riflettono nella loro conformazione le concettualizzazioni e le modalità di fruizione dello spazio, del paesaggio e del tempo attraverso le epoche, configurandosi come interessanti oggetti di studio: dalle prime strutture introverse e indifferenti al paesaggio circostante, deputate unicamente alla protezione dall'ambiente esterno, fino alle strutture landmark della contemporaneità.…”
