Determination of radon source in basaltic groundwater, using geochemical tracers and chemometric statistical analysis by Jim Stanley, Lucy Reading

    Published 2025-02-01
“…A geochemical analysis of rock samples collected from the plateau, combined with a statistical analysis of water sample chemistry, confirmed the rhyolite formation as the primary source of radon. This indicates a strong hydrological connectivity between the rhyolite and basalt formations, such that the dissolved radon gas in groundwater is easily able to migrate through the network of fractures from the rhyolite formation into the overlying basalt formation. …”

On the Boundary Conditions in Out-of-Plane Analysis of Thin Plates by the Finite Point Method by Sadegh Tavakoliyan, Mohamad Najar, Parham Memarzadeh, Tadeh Zirakian

    Published 2025-01-01
“…To address this challenge, the approach incorporates additional nodal points positioned close to each boundary node, supplementing the points distributed throughout the plate’s interior and along its edges. The strong form of the governing equation is employed for the interior points, while the analysis also includes the scenario of a plate resting on boundary columns. …”

The relationship between social support and work engagement of rural teachers: a moderated mediation model by Shengwen Wu, Shengwen Wu, Qiangqiang Xu, Huidong Tian, Rongrong Li, Xiaopeng Wu

    Published 2025-01-01
“…AimThis paper aims to investigate the relationship between social support and rural teachers’ work engagement while exploring the mediating effect of mindfulness in teaching and the moderating effect of psychological safety.MethodsA sample of 866 rural teachers was recruited, in order to complete the Mindfulness in Teaching Scale, Social Support Rating Scale, Psychological Safety Scale, and Utrecht Work Engagement Scale.ResultsThe study findings indicate that: (1) social support positively influenced the work engagement of rural teachers; (2) further, mindfulness in teaching partially mediated the effect of social support on rural teachers’ work engagement; (3) psychological safety moderated the second half of the pathway of “social support → mindfulness in teaching → work engagement” while the positive correlation between mindfulness in teaching and work engagement was stronger among rural teachers with high psychological safety.ConclusionSocial support documented a strong correlation with work engagement while mindfulness in teaching mediated the pathway between the aforementioned variables. …”

Repenser le risque et les catastrophes dans les régions de montagne by Kenneth Hewitt, Manjari Mehta

    Published 2012-03-01
“…This contrasts with prevailing approaches to disaster focused on natural hazards, “unscheduled” or extreme events, and emergency preparedness; approaches strongly reinforced by mountain stereotypes. Rather, we find the legacies of social and economic histories, especially relations to down-country or metropolitan actors, are decisive in shaping contemporary “mountain realities”. …”

ATP-Binding Pocket-Targeted Suppression of Src and Syk by Luteolin Contributes to Its Anti-Inflammatory Action by Jeong-Oog Lee, Deok Jeong, Mi-Yeon Kim, Jae Youl Cho

    Published 2015-01-01
“…Overexpression of wild type Src and point mutants thereof, and molecular modelling studies, suggest that the ATP-binding pocket may be the luteolin-binding site in Src. These results strongly suggest that luteolin may exert its anti-inflammatory action by suppressing the NF-κB signaling cascade via blockade of ATP binding in Src and Syk.…”
