Sleep quality in older adults with cognitive frailty: current status and influencing factors by Mei He, XiaoLi Yuan, XiaoLing Zhao, Heting Liang, Yuhong Long, Yan Zhang, Dan Meng, Pan Cai

Published 2025-08-01
“…Analysis by χ 2 found that factors such as marital status, place of residence, average monthly household income per capita, smoking status, drinking status, types of chronic diseases, degree of anxiety, participation in social activities, and physical exercise showed significant differences in relation to sleep disorders among older adults with CF (p < 0.05). Further analysis by binary logistic regression indicated that living in rural areas (OR = 0.706, 95% CI: 0.537–0.930, p = 0.013), drinking alcohol (OR = 0.584, 95% CI: 0.382–0.893, p = 0.013), an average monthly household income per capita of less than 2,000 yuan (OR = 1.413, 95% CI: 1.070–1.866, p = 0.015), participating in social activities daily (OR = 0.607, 95% CI: 0.381–0.967, p = 0.036), participating in social activities 1–3 times a week (OR = 0.507, 95% CI: 0.377–0.682, p < 0.001), and the state of anxiety (OR = 2.393, 95% CI: 1.831–3.126, p < 0.001) were all independent factors affecting the sleep quality of older adults with cognitive frailty (p < 0.05). …”

Exploring the value of arterial spin labeling and six diffusion MRI models in differentiating solid benign and malignant renal tumors by Mengmeng Gao, Shichao Li, Guanjie Yuan, Weinuo Qu, Kangwen He, Zhouyan Liao, Ting Yin, Wei Chen, Qian Chu, Zhen Li

Published 2024-12-01
“…The mean and peak renal blood flow (RBFmean and RBFpeak) from ASL and fourteen diffusion parameters from mono-exponential DWI (Mono_DWI), intravoxel incoherent motion (IVIM), diffusion kurtosis imaging (DKI), stretched exponential model (SEM), fractional order calculus (FROC), and continuous-time random-walk (CTRW) model were analyzed. Binary logistic regression was used to determine the optimal parameter combinations. …”

Calibrating multiplex serology for Helicobacter pylori by Emmanuelle A. Dankwa, Martyn Plummer, Daniel Chapman, Rima Jeske, Julia Butt, Michael Hill, Tim Waterboer, Iona Y. Millwood, Ling Yang, Christiana Kartsonaki

Published 2025-08-01
“…We discuss these challenges and propose a novel solution to optimize the translation of the continuous measurements from multiplex serology into probabilities of H. pylori infection, using classification algorithms (Bayesian additive regressive trees (BART), multidimensional monotone BART, logistic regression, random forest and elastic net). We (i) calibrate and apply classification models to predict probabilities of H. pylori infection given multiplex measurements, (ii) compare the predictive performance of the models using immunoblot as reference, (iii) discuss reasons for the differences in predictive performance and (iv) apply the calibrated models to gain insights on the relative strengths of infection evidence provided by the various antigens. …”

Cervical Cancer Prediction Based on Imbalanced Data Using Machine Learning Algorithms with a Variety of Sampling Methods by Mădălina Maria Muraru, Zsuzsa Simó, László Barna Iantovics

Published 2024-11-01
“…To identify the best imbalanced technique for this medical dataset, the performances of eleven important resampling methods are compared, combined with the following state-of-the-art ML models that are frequently applied in predictive healtchare research: K-Nearest Neighbors (KNN) (with k values of 2 and 3), binary Logistic Regression (bLR), and Random Forest (RF). …”
