Inter-rater reliability and prognostic value of baseline Radiographic Assessment of Lung Edema (RALE) scores in observational cohort studies of inpatients with COVID-19 by Andrew I Kim, William Bain, Alison Morris, Barbara Methe, Bryan J McVerry, Georgios D Kitsios, Daniel Kotok, Janet S Lee, Nameer Al-Yousif, Christine E Girard, Jana J Jacobs, Konstantin Golubykh, Hafiz Qurashi, Michael Lu, Saketram Komanduri, Anatoliy Korzhuk, Halimat O Lawal, Nicholas Abourizk, Caitlin Schaefer, Kevin J Mitchell, Catherine M Dietz, Ellen K Hughes, Clara S Brandt, Georgia M Fitzgerald, Robin Joyce, Asmaa S Chaudhry, Jose D Rivera, Shruti Shettigar, Allen Lavina, Samantha R Gillenwater, Anas Hadeh, Faraaz A Shah, Matthew Bittner, Niall Prendergast, John Evankovich, Navitha Ramesh, Cathy Kessinger

    Published 2023-01-01
“…Objectives To reliably quantify the radiographic severity of COVID-19 pneumonia with the Radiographic Assessment of Lung Edema (RALE) score on clinical chest X-rays among inpatients and examine the prognostic value of baseline RALE scores on COVID-19 clinical outcomes.Setting Hospitalised patients with COVID-19 in dedicated wards and intensive care units from two different hospital systems.Participants 425 patients with COVID-19 in a discovery data set and 415 patients in a validation data set.Primary and secondary outcomes We measured inter-rater reliability for RALE score annotations by different reviewers and examined for associations of consensus RALE scores with the level of respiratory support, demographics, physiologic variables, applied therapies, plasma host–response biomarkers, SARS-CoV-2 RNA load and clinical outcomes. Results Inter-rater agreement for RALE scores improved from fair to excellent following reviewer training and feedback (intraclass correlation coefficient of 0.85 vs 0.93, respectively). …”

Non-unit protection scheme for flexible DC transmission lines based on fitting the rate of change of line-mode voltage reverse traveling waves by Qixuan Zhang, Haifeng Li, Hainan Liu, Zhijie Wang

    Published 2025-03-01
“…The Levenberg–Marquardt method is used to fit the fault TW; the differences in the waveform features of the reverse TW rate-of-change under internal and external faults are extracted, and the characteristic quantities for internal and external fault identification are constructed by using fitting residuals and dominant term exponents in the fitting results. …”

Fatigue life assessment of thin-walled welded joints under non-proportional load-time histories by the shear stress rate integral approach by A. Bolchoun, C. M. Sonsino, H. Kaufmann, T. Melz

    Published 2016-10-01
“…This measure is computed as an area covered by the shear stress vectors in all planes over a certain time interval, its computation involves the shear stress and the shear stress rate vectors in the individual planes. Fatigue life evaluation for the variable amplitudes loadings is performed using the Palmgren-Miner linear damage accumulation, whereas the total damage of every cycle is split up into two components: the amplitude component and the out-of-phase component. …”

Comparing rates and characteristics of emergency department presentations related to pharmaceutical opioid poisoning in Australia: a study protocol for a retrospective observational study by Dan I Lubman, Suzanne Nielsen, Tina Lam, Janneke Berecki-Gisolf, Jane Hayman, Paul Sanfilippo

    Published 2020-09-01
“…We will calculate supply-adjusted rates of presentations using Poisson regression for all pharmaceutical opioid cases identified, separately for nine commonly prescribed pharmaceutical opioids (buprenorphine, codeine, fentanyl, methadone, morphine, oxycodone, oxycodone-naloxone, tapentadol, tramadol), and for a multiple opioid category. …”
