Two-stage community detection algorithm based on label propagation by Xueliang SUN, Wei WANG, Junheng HUANG, Guodong XIN, Bailing WANG

    Published 2022-04-01
“…Community detection is an important research topic of complex network analysis. The detection results help to understand the community structure of complex networks and provide support for downstream tasks, such as content recommendation, link detection.Considering the challenge of community detection in complex networks, a two-stage community detection algorithm based on label propagation (TS-LPA) was proposed. The TS-LPA algorithm quantified the propagation capability of nodes based on the extended neighborhood. Then a new evaluation index was proposed to measure the probability of influence between nodes using the information of nodes and the weight of edges in the network.Based on the calculation of node centrality, the algorithm determined the updating sequence of node labels and the selection strategy of seed nodes, which eliminated the instability of the algorithm in the updating process. The TS-LPA algorithm used the breadth-first propagation idea and introduced the second-stage label propagation method to improve the quality of community detection. When label began to spread, all neighboring nodes had an influence on the label of the related node.Meanwhile, the influence of neighboring seed nodes was added to complete label updating, in order to reduce the dominance of neighboring nodes on the updated node. The experimental results of different real data sets and synthetic data sets show that TS-LPA algorithm can eliminate randomness and show strong stability while effectively improving the quality of community detection.…”

Encounter Analysis between Strong Wind and Rainstorm of Reservoir Based on Copula Functions by CAI Qilin, XU Danli, WANG Zhaoli, LAI Chengguang

    Published 2021-01-01
“…The purpose of this study is to discuss the encounter problem between strong wind and rainstorm in the coastal reservoirs. The Dalongdong Reservoir, located in Taishan of Guangdong Province, was taken as a study case. The P-III,Gamma and GEV functions were used to fit the marginal distributions between three groups of rainfall extremes and one group of maximum wind speed sequence respectively. The values of different return period of the maximum wind speed and maximum rainfall in different periods were also analyzed by Archimedean Copula and Kendall function. The return periods of ‘or’,‘and’,and Kendall return period as well as the most likely design values of wind speed and rainfall were calculated. The results showed that the annual maximum daily rainfall showed a significant uptrend (p<0.05) while the yearly maximum wind speed showed a downtrend. The correlation between wind speed and rainstorm sequence was extremely weak while maximum wind speed had encountered the annual maximum rainfall during the analysis period. The values of wind speed and rainfall based on ‘or’,‘and’,and Kendall return period were smaller than that of univariate marginal distribution, while the values of “or” were larger than those with univariate marginal distribution. The elevation of main dam based on “or” joint distribution of 100a return period was larger than the actual elevation.Accordingly, this study suggested considering the encounter between strong wind and rainstorm when designing the elevation of reservoir dam in the future.…”

A single flow detection enabled method for DDoS attacks in IoT based on traffic feature reconstruction and mapping by Lixia XIE, Bingdi YUAN, Hongyu YANG, Ze HU, Xiang CHENG, Liang ZHANG

    Published 2024-01-01
“…To address the slow response time of existing detection modules to Internet of things (IoT) distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks, their low feature differentiation, and poor detection performance, a single flow detection enabled method based on traffic feature reconstruction and mapping (SFDTFRM) was proposed.Firstly, SFDTFRM employed a queue to store previously arrived flow based on the first in, first out rule.Secondly, to address the issue of similarity between normal communication traffic of IoT devices and DDoS attack traffic, a multidimensional reconstruction neural network model more lightweight compared to the baseline model and a function mapping method were proposed. The modified model loss function was utilized to reconstruct the quantitative feature matrix of the queue according to the corresponding index, and transformed into a mapping feature matrix through the function mapping method, enhancing the differences between different types of traffic, including normal communication traffic of IoT devices and DDoS attack traffic. Finally, the frequency information was extracted using a text convolutional network and information entropy calculation and the machine learning classifier was employed for DDoS attack traffic detection. The experimental results on two benchmark datasets show that SFDTFRM can effectively detect different DDoS attacks, and the average metrics value of SFDTFRM is a maximum of 12.01% higher than other existing methods.…”
