Dose-response associations of device-measured sleep regularity and duration with incident dementia in 82391 UK adults
Published 2025-02-01“…Device-based sleep duration (h/day) and sleep regularity index (SRI), a metric ranging from 0-100 that quantifies a person’s sleep regularity (with a greater value indicating higher consistency), were calculated from wrist-worn accelerometry data recorded over the course of one week. …”

Continuous theta-burst stimulation demonstrates language-network-specific causal effects on syntactic processing
Published 2025-02-01“…Contrasted with sham cTBS, change percentage of accuracy rates (ΔACCR%), reaction times (ΔRT%), and coefficient of variation (ΔCV%) were calculated and compared across conditions. First-order behavioral results showed a significantly higher ΔCV% after stimulating IFG + pTL compared to stimulating the IFG + SPL, indicating that syntactic processing became more unstable. …”

Sex differences in epigenetic ageing for older people living with HIVResearch in context
Published 2025-03-01“…Hence, we generated a more representative epigenetic dataset to examine sex differences in epigenetic ageing and relationships to clinical phenotypes and proteomics. Methods: We calculated first, second, and third-generation epigenetic ages using DNA methylation data in an observational cohort of 52 females and 106 males with HIV age 50 and over. …”

Assessing learning, behaviour, and stress level in goats while testing a virtual fencing training protocol
Published 2025-02-01“…The daily number of acoustic signals and electric pulses of each goat was used to calculate a ‘success ratio’. A significant increase in the success ratio and a general decrease in the signal duration indicate the successful association of acoustic signals and electric pulses at the group level. …”

Understanding Dioxygen Activation in the Fe(III)-Promoted Oxidative Dehydrogenation of Amines: A Computational Study
Published 2025-01-01“…Experiments with the deuterated ligand L3 reveal a primary C-H kinetic isotope effect, <i>k</i>CH/<i>k</i>CD = 2.30, suggesting C-H bond cleavage as the rate-determining step. The DFT calculations show that (i) 3O2 abstracts a hydrogen atom from the α-pyridine aliphatic C-H moiety, introducing a double bond regio-selectively at the C7N8 position, via the hydrogen atom transfer (HAT) mechanism, (ii) O2 does not coordinate to the iron center to generate a high-valent Fe oxo species observed in enzymes and biomimetic complexes, and (iii) the experimental activation parameters (ΔH≠ = 20.38 kcal mol−1, ΔS≠ = −0.018 kcal mol−1 K−1) fall within in the range of values reported for HAT reactions and align well with the computational results for the activated complex [FeIIL3N8•]2+···3O2.…”
