Hsa_circ_0000479/Hsa-miR-149-5p/RIG-I, IL-6 Axis: A Potential Novel Pathway to Regulate Immune Response against COVID-19
Published 2022-01-01“…After extraction of total RNA from peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) of 50 patients with symptomatic COVID-19, 50 patients with nonsymptomatic COVID-19, and 50 normal controls, cDNA synthesis was performed. Online in silico tools were applied to evaluate the interaction between the genes in the hsa_circ_0000479/hsa-miR-149-5p/RIG-I, IL-6 axis, and its role in COVID-19-related pathways. …”

Unveiling the pathways: identifying the multifaceted determinants of low birth weight among neonates in low-income countries: a case-control study
Published 2025-01-01“…Statistical significance was declared at a p value<0.05.Results A total of 86 birth records of neonates with low birth weight and 172 birth records of neonates with normal birth weight were reviewed. The results revealed that lack of iron and folic acid supplementation (adjusted odds ratio (AOR) 2.47; 95% CI 1.16 to 5.25), lack of additional meal intake (AOR 2.66; 95% CI 1.16 to 6.00), anaemia (AOR 3.45; 95% CI 1.63 to 7.28), pregnancy-induced hypertension (AOR 2.49; 95% CI 1.04 to 5.97), mid-upper arm circumference (MUAC) (AOR 6.74; 95% CI 2.87 to 7.00), gestational age at first antenatal care (ANC) of ≥24 (AOR 7.31; 95% CI 3.43 to 15.58) and minimum food diversity (AOR 4.2; 95% CI 1.94 to 9.20) were common determinants of low birth weight. Conclusion Lack of iron and folic acid supplementation, additional meal intake, being anaemic, pregnancy-induced hypertension, gestational age at first ANC visit, MUAC ≤23 and minimum food diversity were common determinants of low birth weight. …”

Chronic kidney disease in adults aged 18 years and older in Chile: findings from the cross-sectional Chilean National Health Surveys 2009–2010 and 2016–2017
Published 2020-09-01“…In ENS 2016–2017, 15.5% (13.5% to 17.8%) of adults aged 40+ years with diabetes and/or hypertension had increased albuminuria. Being obese versus normal-weight (OR: 1.66; 95% CI: 1.08 to 2.54) and having both diabetes and hypertension versus having diabetes alone (OR: 2.30; 95% CI: 1.34 to 3.95) were significantly associated with higher odds of increased albuminuria in fully-adjusted analyses. …”

Proteomic analysis to explore potential mechanism underlying pseudomale sperm defect in Cynoglossus semilaevis
Published 2025-03-01“…Females of Chinese tongue sole (Cynoglossus semilaevis) grow 2–4 times faster and bigger than males, but some genetic females can sex reverse into phenotypic males (called pseudomales, ZW karyotype) that presents similar slow growth to normal males. Pseudomales could only produce Z-type sperm, of which the inheritance epigenetic pattern makes their offspring tend to be pseudomales. …”
