Balancing the Potential Gauging Process Applied to Wave Propagation for Arbitrary Space-Times by Thomas Reum

    Published 2025-01-01
“…This article addresses possibilities to compensate an unwanted side effect arising in the widely used gauging process of electrodynamic potentials due to mathematical conditions applied to describe propagating electromagnetic (EM) waves with a focus on radio frequency (RF). Previous studies have shown by means of guided propagation that phase velocities which differ from intuitive understanding occur for several components of potentials when deviating from a specific gauge determined by physical relationships. …”

Live video transmission optimization mechanism based on edge intelligence in high client-density environment by Xiaodan GU, Wenjia WU, Zhen LING

    Published 2023-11-01
“…The traditional live video transmission optimization mechanism is deployed on the server side, which cannot quickly respond to the dynamic changes of the user’s wireless network environment. To address this problem, a live video transmission optimization mechanism based on edge intelligence called S-Edge was proposed. It was deployed on the OpenWrt-based wireless access point, and comprehensively utilized the wireless channel state information such as airtime utilization and signal-to-noise ratio to make intelligent decisions on terminal priority and transmission rate based on fuzzy logic theory.Furthermore, the active queue management with hierarchical token bucket and service demand-driven wireless transmission rate adaptive control technologies were introduced to realize the real-time scheduling of live video data.In order to verify the effectiveness and performance of the proposed mechanism, a high client-density environment was built through user clusters based on multi-radio interfaces in the real-world scenario.Experimental results show that S-Edge can significantly reduce the average delay and packet loss rate, which meets QoS requirements of live video transmission services in the high client-density environment.…”

Indoor terminal localization technology using a single access point based on distributed MIMO networks by Ze LI, Jian ZOU, Zeng HUANG, Zengshan TIAN

    Published 2023-12-01
“…Regarding the terminal localization in distributed MIMO networks, an indoor terminal localization system using a single access point (AP) based on distributed MIMO networks was proposed.Firstly, the AP’s antennas were arranged at different locations in the room, and the compressed sensing algorithm was used to estimate the angle of departure (AoD) and time of flight (ToF) of the receiving path on each antenna of the terminal device.Secondly, AoDs and ToFs of multiple paths were combined to establish a nonlinear localization model, and an improved Levenberg-Marquardt algorithm was used to solve the problem. Then, theoretical analysis has been examined for the factors that influence the localization error, and the criteria for the antenna layout was provided. Finally, electromagnetic simulation software was used to build simulation environment and conducted the simulation for system verification. Moreover, software-defined radio platforms were used to conduct practical tests. Both simulation and experimental results indicate that the performance of the proposed localization system is superior to existing single-AP localization systems based on natural multipath.…”

Performance analysis of mixed FSO-RF transmission in UAV relay communication systems by Su XU, Ji ZHANG, Yanghua DIAO, Yuanying LIU, Yi ZHANG

    Published 2022-04-01
“…A mixed free space optical (FSO)-radio frequency (RF) transmission was studied in the multiuser unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV)-aided terrestrial network.Specifically, a novel beamforming (BF) scheme was proposed based on the available statistical channel state information (CSI), and the outage performance of the considered system was analyzed. In this mixed framework, the link between the base station and the UAV employs the FSO technology, while aerial-terrestrial links use RF technology. To achieve the space division multiple access (SDMA) in RF links.First of all, the available statistical CSI was proposed, and a novel beamforming (BF) scheme was proposed to suppress the inter-user interference so that all the users can be served simultaneously. Then, based on the assumption that the FSO and RF links follow the Gamma-Gamma fading and Nakgami-m fading respectively, an analytical expression was derived for the outage probability (OP) of the considered system.Furthermore, the asymptotical OP expression in high signal-to-noise ratio regime was presented to evaluate the achievable diversity order. Finally, numerical results were given to confirm the validity of our theoretical analysis and the superiority of the proposed scheme.…”
