Research and evaluation of sparse array for massive MIMO by Mengting LOU, Jing JIN, Hanning WANG, Qixing WANG, Jiangzhou WANG

    Published 2021-09-01
“…Massive multiple-input multiple-output (mMIMO) enables higher spectrum efficiency by deploying a large number of antenna elements. However, mMIMO will bring a substantial increase in the number of radio frequency (RF) channel, which will result in a sharp increase in cost. Therefore, it is necessary to design mMIMO with comprehensive consideration of the trade-off between the performance and the cost.Sparse array technology can approach the performance of the uniform array with less number of antenna elements by optimizing the position distribution and excitation amplitudes of the antenna elements, thereby reducing the number of RF channels and controlling the cost, and achieving a better cost-effective balance. Both link-level and system-level evaluations and analysis of sparse array based mMIMO that targets for 6G were performed under realistic simulation settings. The results show that with little performance loss, the sparse array based mMIMO can significantly reduce the number of antenna elements and the cost of base station infrastructure.…”

Position related lightweight Sybil detection approach in VANET by Yan XIN, Xia FENG, Ting-ting LI

    Published 2017-04-01
“…In VANET,the Sybil attack simultaneously using multiple forged identities can easily cause the injustice of resource usage and make networks in a mess by distributing false messages. To solve this problem,an event-driven lightweight algorithm was proposed, which could identify vehicles false position quickly. When one vehicle appeared inside another's safety zone,a geometrical cross-recognition algorithm to calculate the overlap between vehicles to detect false position claiming was presented. At the same time, according to the neighbors within the confirming vehicle's radio range, position deviation matrix was established further to identify the Sybil node of two overlap vehicles. The performance analysis and simulation results show that the lightweight algorithm driven by safety zone demonstrates fast identification and high detection rate, especially when GPS error is very low.The imported safety zone can also balance the communication load impacting by heavy vehicular density. And the communication processing delay is lower than other approaches.…”

Small cell discovery based on TOA fingerprint database by Yang CHEN, Zhenzhu LEI, Bin SHEN

    Published 2017-09-01
“…In the scenario that a large number of small cells are deployed in the mobile communication network, the number of carriers to be detected by the user equipment (UE) in inter-frequency scanning is considerably larger than that in the conventional network deployment scenarios. This procedure may consume tremendous amounts of UEs’ energy. In order to solve this problem,a small cell discovery (SCD) scheme based on TOA fingerprint database to alleviate intensive energy consumption was proposed when the UEs try to find their potential serving small cells. The proposed scheme reduces the energy consumption of the UE by decreasing the number of unnecessary inter-frequency detection. The simulation results verifiy that the proposed scheme, compared with the existing SCD strategy using received signal strength (RSSI) based radio maps, has better anti-noise performance and higher accuracy. In addition,it can effectively help the high-speed UE avoid performing inter-frequency detection, and hence increase the rate of the UE being successfully connected to the appropriate small cell.…”
