Linguistic variation in the interpretation and production of Italian motion event constructions in younger and older adults: evidence for language change?
Published 2025-01-01“…We simulated the chain of language change adopting an apparent-time approach and investigated whether the impact of semantic properties (the manner verb’s association with directional motion) on the interpretation and productions of SF Italian constructions was affected by participants’ age. …”

Framing the Land: Canadian Landscapes Revisited in Jin-me Yoon and Lorraine Gilbert’s Photography
Published 2023-11-01“…While the photographers engaged in geographical and topographical expeditionary missions envisioned the land as the epitome of the sublime landscape, the Group of Seven painters of the 1920s and 1930s later sought to express the essence of Canada’s northern identity through the celebration of a mythical wilderness. This manner of framing the land implied that what was kept outside of the frame or conversely included within its bounds, was often informed by hierarchical relations and colonialist visions of the land. …”

Feasts of Indifference: Racialization, Affect, and Necropolitics in 1X War Games
Published 2021-09-01“…In other words, instead of planning how to best train for, track down, encounter, and ultimately fight against this enemy, the choice that these controversial, post-9/11games offer is to simply eliminate the already out-at-large, under-armed, erratic Muslim enemy in a drone-like, distanced, and lackluster manner. As I suggest in this essay, 1X games promote unappealing and non-immersive, yet overtly political projects of death. …”

Controlled Sink Mobility Algorithms for Wireless Sensor Networks
Published 2014-04-01“…A wireless sensor network (WSN) consists of hundreds or thousands of sensor nodes organized in an ad hoc manner to achieve a predefined goal. Although WSNs have limitations in terms of memory and processors, the main constraint that makes WSNs different from traditional networks is the battery problem which limits the lifetime of a network. …”

Research on optimization of indoor positioning batch ranging system based on DS-TWR algorithm
Published 2022-01-01“…Aiming at the current problems of the ultra wide band (UWB) indoor positioning system based on the double sided two-way ranging (DS-TWR) algorithm, there are more communication times and a higher conflict rate in a multi-tag environment, an improved algorithm was proposed. The Hash algorithm to hash and distribute the communication content between the tag and the anchor was used, so that the anchor could reply to multiple tags in a regular and unified manner during each ranging process, which greatly reduced the number of times the anchor sends RES (responds) data.Experimental results show that the improved algorithms’ communication times between a tag and the anchor were reduced by 15% compared with the traditional DS-TWR algorithm, which increases the time proportion of the anchor receiving state in ranging, thereby reducing the anchor receiving RNG (range) data. The collision rate of packets, the success rate of ranging has increased by 43.6%.Due to the reduction in the number of communications required in each positioning cycle and the reduction in the collision rate between data packets, a smaller channel capacity would be required, thereby increasing the label capacity of the positioning system, which has strong engineering significance.…”

Henry Rider Haggard’s Posthumanist Eco-consciousness
Published 2020-12-01“…Writing his “imperial romances” in the wake of the beginnings of what is now called the Anthropocene age, Haggard observed and understood the changing relationships between the human society and the more-than-human world in this historical period. In a manner that would be unexpected of an author widely labeled as ‘a man of his times’—and therefore a pro-imperial propagandist—in postcolonial literary criticism, he was critical of the anthropocentric ways of western civilization. …”

Comparison between DSQIID total / sub-item scores and plasma p-tau elevation in adults with Down's syndrome.
Published 2024-01-01“…The DSQIID total scores tended to be positively associated with age, and some sub-scores increased in an age-dependent manner. DSQIID total scores and some sub-scores were also positively correlated with plasma p-tau levels, while all significant correlations disappeared after adjusting for age. …”

Exploration of Application of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Remote Sensing Monitoring Technology in Reservoir Management—Taking a Reservoir in South China as an Example
Published 2023-01-01“…In order to improve the technological level and efficiency of water conservancy project supervision,a drinking water reservoir management department in South China took the lead in building a set of intelligent patrol systems for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).The system included UAVs,UAV automated airports, meteorological monitoring devices, and UAV dispatch and control platforms, and it integrated technologies such as UAV autonomous driving,remote-sensing monitoring, geospatial perception, and artificial intelligence, achieving intelligent flight operations of UAVs in a round-the-clock,fully automatic, and highly frequent manner. It changed traditional routine inspection methods for reservoir security, environment, and land space, greatly improved working efficiency and regulatory effectiveness, and reduced the occurrence of safety incidents around the reservoir, which provided a certain reference value for its application and promotion in the daily management of water conservancy projects. However, the technical issues such as battery life, communication interference, and intelligent perception in the application of UAVs in the industry,as well as the lack of UAV hardware quality and flight standards caused by incomplete industry regulation, collectively limited the orderly development of the industry, and it must be taken seriously by industry-related regulatory authorities.…”
