Preparation of SiC/Al2O3 composite materials from coal fly ash by LI Zi-yong, WU Chun-han, YU Qing-chun, ZHOU Yue-zhen, LI Wei, YANG Bin

    Published 2016-06-01
“…By using coal fly ash as a raw material and graphite as a reducer in the protective atmosphere of argon,SiC/Al2O3 composite materials were synthesized by carbothermal reduction. The reaction process of reduction of the coal fly ash was studied, and its influencing factors were investigated. The composition of products obtained at different temperatures was analyzed by X-ray diffraction, and the microstructure was observed by scanning electron microscopy and energy dispersive spectroscopy. The results show that the phases of quartz and mullite in the coal fly ash are almost completely reactive at 1673 and 1773 K,respectively. With increasing temperature, the contents of SiC and Al2O3 increase, and the suitable temperature condition is 1773 to 1873 K.The extension of holding time is good for the formation of SiC and Al2O3,and the appropriate holding time is 3 to 4 h.Increasing the carbon content has positive effect on the formation of SiC and Al2O3,and the optimum molar ratio of C/Si is 4 to 5.In the prepared SiC/Al2O3 composite materials,SiC is homogeneously dispersed in the products, and its granularity is less than 20 μm.…”

Technology of Laser Cladding Ceramics on Heat Resistant Steel Surface by LIU Lijun, WANG Xiaolu, SHEN Xiuqiang, SONG Yuanzeng

    Published 2020-02-01
“…Heat resistance steel type of H13 is used for the aircraft structure parts whose working temperature is 400~500℃ Moreover, it is required to wear resistance for the parts in some special service environments In order to solve the problem of wear failure in hot work dies during service, a low power laser type of Nd:YAG was used to cladding SiC ceramics on the surface of H13 steel The macroscopic feature, microstructures and compositions were observed by the metalloscope, scanning electron microscope and energy depressive spectroscopy Experimental results indicated that that the cross sections of the cladding sample were markedly divisional (Clad Zone, Fusion zone, Heataffected zone, Substrate Zone) The microstructure of cladding layer is nondirectional and compact, without obvious crack and porosity and with good performance The homogeneous microstructure of bonding layer is dendrite and equiaxed grain with small size, and the massive columnar crystal grew from the bond line of H13 steel substrate to fusion zone The wear resistance of laser cladding ceramics on heat resistance steel surface is analyzedBesides, a through crack appeared after the scanning speed up to 40mm/min、60mm/min on the cladding layer as the hard and brittle characteristic of SiC ceramics and the difference of thermal expansion coefficient between SiC ceramics and substrate; The above research results provide some theoretical support for improving the surface wear resistance of aircraft heatresistant parts.…”
