“…Based on the giant data samples authorized by CAIDA,it found that the Internet traveling time was typically distributed by multi-modal and heavy-tailed when the Internet traveling time was statistically analyzed.Furthermore,a research on the relationship between the traveling diameter and the traveling time from the whole and local data samples supposed that link delay was the leading cause for the great variance of the traveling time,and a revising algorithm was proposed to process the raw data samples to obtain link delay.The statistical analysis of link delay presented that the ratio of the biggest link delay to the traveling time in more than 90% of paths was over 1/4.Then a definition of dominant delay was put forward.The traveling time is affected greatly by dominant delay,which makes the similar diameter’s traveling time distinct.…”

“…To build the prospect of Chinese IP-level topology,the traditional destination sampling method was evaluated;three new improved techniques were developed;and Chinese network was measured.With the methodology of complex network,the topology characteristics were extracted and compared.The sizes of autonomous systems（AS） were investi-gated with the IP2AS technique.The results showe that lots of information is missed by the traditional method;the load is reduced to about a half by the new techniques while the completeness is retained;and the size of new discovered Chinese topology is 5 times as many as that discovered by CAIDA’s skitter.Compared to skitter’s topology,the more complete topology showe more observable dissortativity,weaker clustering,shorter distance and more disequilibrium of node traf-fic distribution.The heavy-tailed distribution of AS sizes is discovered.…”

“…Combined with the next generation security architecture,a novel AS-level defense scheme was proposed to restrain DoS attacks in the Internet.And the deficiencies of previous capability schemes were analyzed in detail,especially on requesting/withdrawing authorization of capabilities.The scheme takes account of a congestion feedback mechanism,a combination with multi-level active queue management,and the credit computation.Then a further analysis on the scheme’s effectiveness was presented.Several experiments with NS2 and CAIDA’s topology datasets were performed to evaluate the authorizing time and traffic,the average requesting time and common file transfer time of different schemes.The results show that this scheme can effectively reduce the average requesting time of capabilities,improve common file transfer efficiency,and enhance the feasibility and robustness.…”
