Evidence of a Lead Metathesis Product from Calcium Hydroxyapatite Dissolution in Lead Nitrate Solution
Published 2014-01-01“…Calcium hydroxyapatite, CaHAp, synthesized by the precipitation method, was utilized to study the calcium-lead metathesis reaction on dissolution in a lead nitrate solution under reflux conditions to prepare larger lead hydroxyapatite, PbHAp, crystals from CaHAp. …”

Role of Indium Alloying with Lead as a Means to Reduce the Passivation Phenomena in Lead/Acid Batteries
Published 2014-01-01“…This study exhibits that indium catalyses the oxidation of Pb (II) to Pb (IV) and facilitates the formation of a more highly conductive corrosion layer on lead. Alloy I (0.5% In) exhibits that the corrosion rate is lower, while the passive current is higher than that of Pb. …”

Piecewise-linear companding transform for peak-to-average power ratio reduction of OFDM signals
Published 2011-01-01“…In order to reduce the peak-to-average power ratio(PAPR) of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing(OFDM) signals,a piecewise-linear companding transform was proposed.Small amplitudes were multiplied by a scale factor, while large ones were not only multiplied by a scale factor but also added by a shift. The resulting companding transform was piecewise-linear and continuous. It can provide significant PAPR reduction performance with low compu-tational complexity, and has low influence on system performances through piecewise transform. It is shown by theoreti-cal analysis and simulation that,a good trade-off between PAPR reduction and bit-error-rate performances can be achieved by carefully choosing the two scales and the shift.Furthermore, compared with existing linear and nonlinear companding transforms,a better power spectral density performance can be achieved.…”

Multiplicity of Solutions for a Class of Fourth-Order Elliptic Problems with Asymptotically Linear Term
Published 2012-01-01“…We study the following fourth-order elliptic equations: Δ2𝑢+𝑎Δ𝑢=𝑓(𝑥,𝑢),𝑥∈Ω,𝑢=Δ𝑢=0,𝑥∈𝜕Ω, where Ω⊂ℝ𝑁 is a bounded domain with smooth boundary 𝜕Ω and 𝑓(𝑥,𝑢) is asymptotically linear with respect to 𝑢 at infinity. Using an equivalent version of Cerami's condition and the symmetric mountain pass lemma, we obtain the existence of multiple solutions for the equations.…”

More on Generalizations and Modifications of Iterative Methods for Solving Large Sparse Indefinite Linear Systems
Published 2014-01-01“…Continuing from the works of Li et al. (2014), Li (2007), and Kincaid et al. (2000), we present more generalizations and modifications of iterative methods for solving large sparse symmetric and nonsymmetric indefinite systems of linear equations. We discuss a variety of iterative methods such as GMRES, MGMRES, MINRES, LQ-MINRES, QR MINRES, MMINRES, MGRES, and others.…”
