Effect of Sling Exercise Therapy combined with Inspiratory Muscle Strength Training for Stroke Patients with Hemiplegia by Wenlin SUN, Dianhuai MENG, Yangyang LIU, Xiaoyong SU, Yang LIU, Fangfang ZHANG, Tiantian ZHAO

Published 2021-08-01
“…Before and after treatment for six weeks, the maximum inspiratory pressure(MIP), peak inspiratory flow(PIF), and forced vital capacity(FVC)were used to assess the lung function and inspiratory muscle function of patients; the Berg balance scale(BBS)was used to assess patients balance ability; the Fugl-Meyer assessment lower extremity(FMA-LE)was used to assess the patient's lower limb motor function; 10-meter maximum walking speed(10 m MWS)was used to assess the patient's walking speed. Results:Before treatment, there were no significant differences in MIP, PIF, FVC, BBS score, FMALE motor function score and 10 m MWS in the three groups(P>0.05).Compared with before treatment, the MIP, PIF, FVC, BBS score, FMA-LE motor function score and 10 m MWS in the three groups were significantly improved after treatment for six weeks, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Compared with the control group, the MIP, PIF, FVC, BBS, FMA-LE motor function score and 10 m MWS were significantly improved after treatment for six weeks in the sling group and the combined group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Compared with the sling group, the MIP, PIF, FVC, BBS score, FMA-LE motor function score and 10 m MWS in the combined group were significantly higher after treatment for six weeks, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion:Sling exercise therapy combined with inspiratory muscle strength training can effectively improve the balance function and walking function for stroke patients with hemiplegia, which is worthy of clinical promotion.…”

Utility of Pulse Oximetry Oxygen Saturation (SpO2) with Incorporation of Positive End-Expiratory Pressure (SpO2∗10/FiO2∗PEEP) for Classification and Prognostication of Patients with Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome by Pratibha Todur, Anitha Nileshwar, Souvik Chaudhuri, Nitin Gupta, Srikant Natarajan, Shwethapriya Rao

Published 2022-01-01
“…Recent literature has shown that incorporation of positive end-expiratory pressure (PEEP) into the P/F ratio (PaO2∗10/FiO2∗PEEP or P/FP∗10) has a much better prognostic ability in ARDS as compared to P/F ratio. The aim of this study was to correlate SpO2∗10/FiO2∗PEEP (S/FP∗10) to PaO2∗10/FiO2∗PEEP (P/FP∗10) and evaluate the utility of S/FP∗10 as a reliable noninvasive indicator of oxygenation in ARDS to avoid repeated arterial blood sampling. …”
