Diabetes control in public assistance recipients and free/low-cost medical care program beneficiaries in Japan: a retrospective cross-sectional study by Daisuke Nishioka, Mitsuhiko Funakoshi, Seiji Haruguchi, Sakae Yonemura, Takashi Takebe, Misato Nonaka, Sanae Iwashita

    Published 2024-07-01
“…Among patients aged ˂65 years with HbA1c levels above 7%, the adjusted OR was significantly higher in FLCMC programme beneficiaries (OR=3.82, 95% CI: 1.65 to 10.43) than in PHI-only beneficiaries. Additionally, the adjusted OR was significantly higher in FLCMC programme beneficiaries aged ˂65 years (OR=2.57, 95% CI: 1.02 to 7.44) than in PARs.Conclusions This study highlights the predictive value of public assistance or the FLCMC programme for poor blood glucose control and suggests the inadequacy of current medical expense subsidies to eliminate health disparities in diabetes control.…”

    Published 2018-10-01
“…The number of seizures in asymptomatic persons was 3.0 (IQR 2.0–7.3) and 6.0 (IQR 4.0–10.0) in symptomatic individuals, p=0.024. Additionally, in asymptomatic patients, a positive correlation was observed between the parasite density and number of seizures, r=0.33, p=0.002.Conclusion In patients with nodding syndrome, both asymptomatic and symptomatic malaria are associated with an increased risk of seizures and poorer seizure control. …”

Quick sequential organ failure assessment score combined with other sepsis-related risk factors to predict in-hospital mortality: Post-hoc analysis of prospective multicenter study... by Ryo Ueno, Takateru Masubuchi, Atsushi Shiraishi, Satoshi Gando, Toshikazu Abe, Shigeki Kushimoto, Toshihiko Mayumi, Seitaro Fujishima, Akiyoshi Hagiwara, Toru Hifumi, Akira Endo, Takayuki Komatsu, Joji Kotani, Kohji Okamoto, Junichi Sasaki, Yasukazu Shiino, Yutaka Umemura

    Published 2021-01-01
“…The AUC for predicting in-hospital mortality was 0.627 (95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.580-0.673) for the qSOFA-Only model. Addition of other variables only marginally improved the model's AUC; the model that included all potentially relevant variables yielded an AUC of only 0.730 (95% CI: 0.687-0.774). …”

2′-O-Methylperlatolic Acid Enhances Insulin-Regulated Blood Glucose-Lowering Effect through Insulin Receptor Signaling Pathway by Wang Yinghao, Guan Qiaoli, Liu Guanfu, Wu Xiaoyun, Wang Xuanjun, Sheng Jun

    Published 2022-01-01
“…In mice with streptozotocin-induced diabetes, 2-O-M significantly prolonged the blood glucose-lowering effect of insulin, significantly reduced the secretion of exogenous insulin, and reduced the blood glucose concentration in vivo. In addition, treatment with 2-O-M alone significantly enhanced the phosphorylation of AKT in muscle tissue, which enhanced glucose uptake in C2C12 myotubes. …”

Short- to Medium-Term Weather Forecast Skill of the AI-Based Pangu-Weather Model Using Automatic Weather Stations in China by Siyi Xu, Yize Zhang, Junping Chen, Yunlong Zhang

    Published 2025-01-01
“…The results indicate that Pangu surpasses traditional NWP systems in temperature forecasting, while its performance in predicting wind direction, wind speed and pressure is comparable to them. Additionally, the forecast skill of Pangu diminishes as the lead time extends, but it tends to surpass traditional NWP systems with longer lead times. …”

Pretreatment with AM1241 Enhances the Analgesic Effect of Intrathecally Administrated Mesenchymal Stem Cells by Junran Xie, Jinxuan Ren, Na Liu, Chengwei Wu, Dongju Xiao, Huanyu Luo, Jingxian Du

    Published 2019-01-01
“…In untreated CCI mice, expression of TGF-β1 was increased, whereas pretreatment with AM1241-treated mesenchymal stem cells regulated the expression of TGF-β1 on 10 days and 19 days after surgery. In addition, i.t. injection of exogenous TGF-β1 slightly alleviated neuropathic pain whilst neutralization of TGF-β1 potently blocked the effect of AM1241-treated mesenchymal stem cells on thermal hyperalgesia and mechanical allodynia of CCI mice. …”

    Published 2024-11-01
“…Conclusions: Performing hemorrhoidectomy surgery with the Jackknife position compared to the Lithotomy position can reduce the amount of bleeding in patients, shorten the duration of surgery, and provide a better field of view and exposure for the surgeon. Additionally, based on the findings, using either position does not significantly impact the level of local discomfort or postoperative pain.…”
