Low-level auricular vagus nerve stimulation lowers blood pressure and heart rate in paroxysmal atrial fibrillation patients: a self-controlled study
Published 2025-01-01“…The systolic blood pressure (SBP), diastolic blood pressure (DBP), heart rate maximum (HRmax), heart rate minimum (HRmin), left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF), left atrial diameter (LAD), Atrial Fibrillation Severity Scale (AFSS) symptom subscale, and Memorial Symptom Assessment Scale-Heart Failure (MSAS-HF) before and after the treatment were observed and compared. In addition, adverse effects of the LL-aVNS procedure and 6-month follow-up were recorded.ResultsSBP, DBP, and HRmin were lower after the treatment than before the treatment (p < 0.05); AFSS symptom subscale scores and MSAS-HF scores after the treatment were lower before the treatment (p < 0.05); itching of the skin was observed in one case during the course of LL-aVNS; and two patients were hospitalized for acute exacerbation of chronic heart failure between 4 months and 6 months after the treatment.ConclusionLL-aVNS in patients with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation can assist in controlling blood pressure and heart rate, effectively relieving symptoms, and the treatment process is safe and feasible.…”

Lactobacillus reuteri LR1 Improved Expression of Genes of Tight Junction Proteins via the MLCK Pathway in IPEC-1 Cells during Infection with Enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli K88
Published 2018-01-01“…It was found that L. reuteri LR1, in large part, offset the ETEC K88-induced increase in permeability of IPEC-1 cell monolayers and decreased the adhesion and invasion of the coliform in IPEC-1 cells. In addition, L. reuteri LR1 increased transcript abundance and protein contents of tight junction (TJ) proteins zonula occluden-1 (ZO-1) and occludin in ETEC K88-infected IPEC-1 cells, whereas it had no effects on claudin-1 and F-actin expression. …”

NF-κB-Inducing Kinase Is Essential for Effective c-Rel Transactivation and Binding to the Il12b Promoter in Macrophages
Published 2025-01-01“…Immunoprecipitation studies showed that the binding of NIK to c-Rel was not efficient in RAW 264.7 cells over-expressing the aly/aly mutation. In addition, the shuttling of c-Rel to the nucleus was shown to be impaired in aly/aly macrophages in response to LPS. …”
