Habitat associations of six‐lined racerunners in longleaf pine managed with a short fire rotation for northern bobwhites
Published 2024-12-01“…Although bobwhite management in these systems is mostly synonymous with longleaf pine restoration, additional conservation practices aimed at game birds (promoting fallow fields, supplemental feeding, meso‐carnivore control, cross sectional mowing, etc.) might affect the extent to which squamates benefit from habitat management. …”

Linking altered neuronal and synaptic properties to nicotinic receptor Alpha5 subunit gene dysfunction: a translational investigation in rat mPFC and human cortical layer 6
Published 2025-01-01“…Remarkably, it restored nicotinic modulation in neurons of α5SNP rats, while no such effect was observed in α5KO rats. Additionally, galantamine functioned as a positive allosteric modulator of α5*nAChRs in RS neurons, both in rat and human cortical L6, but did not affect burst spiking (BS) neurons. …”

Causal relationship between immune cells and risk of heart failure: evidence from a Mendelian randomization study
Published 2025-01-01“…The objective of the current research was to explore the potential connections between immune characteristics and the development of HF, as well as to ascertain the nature of the causality between these factors.MethodsTo assess the causal association of immunological profiles with HF based on publicly available genome-wide studies, we employed a two-sample Mendelian randomization technique, utilizing the inverse variance weighted (IVW) method as our primary analytical approach. In addition, we assessed heterogeneity and cross-sectional pleiotropy through sensitivity analyses.ResultsA two-sample Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis was conducted using IVW as the primary method. …”

Chronic Rapamycin Prevents Electrophysiological and Morphological Alterations Produced by Conditional Pten Deletion in Mouse Cortex
Published 2025-01-01“…These results support the concept that Pten deletion results in significant changes in inhibitory inputs onto CPNs, and these alterations can be prevented with chronic rapamycin treatment. In addition, normal mice treated with rapamycin also display altered membrane and synaptic properties. …”

Decomposition of skill scores for conditional verification: impact of Atlantic Multidecadal Oscillation phases on the predictability of decadal temperature forecasts
Published 2025-01-01“…Compared to the low-resolution system (preop-LR), no overall performance benefits are made in this region, but positive contributions are achieved for initialization in neutral AMO phases. Additionally, the decomposition reveals a strong imbalance among the subsets (defined by AMO phases) in terms of reference weighting, allowing for insightful interpretation and conclusions. …”

Long-Term Surgical Outcomes of Glaucoma Drainage Implants in Eyes with Preoperative Intraocular Pressure Less than 19 mmHg
Published 2024-01-01“…Clinical data of 67 eyes of 67 patients were collected from patients’ charts, and the outcomes of GDI were evaluated until 7 years. GDI failure was defined as IOP reduction of less than 20% from the baseline at two consecutive visits three months after surgery, decline to no light perception, or if additional glaucoma surgery was performed. …”

Physiological and molecular mechanisms of exogenous salicylic acid in enhancing salt tolerance in tobacco seedlings by regulating antioxidant defence system and gene expression
Published 2025-01-01“…The plant hormone salicylic acid (SA) has notable potential in mitigating salt toxicity, yet its mechanism in enhancing the salinity tolerance of tobacco plants is not well explored.MethodsThis study aimed to assess the potential benefits of exogenous SA application (1.0 mM) on tobacco seedlings subjected to saline soil conditions.ResultsThe foliar spray of SA partially mitigated these salt-induced effects, as evidenced by a reduction of malondialdehyde content, and improvements of leaf K+/Na+ ratios, pigment biosynthesis, and electron transport efficiency under NaCl stress. Additionally, SA increased the contents of total phenolic compound and soluble protein by 16.2% and 28.7% to alleviate NaCl-induced oxidative damage. …”
