Temperature effects on the hormetic response of Myzus persicae after sublethal exposure to insecticides
Published 2024-01-01“…Sublethal exposure of aphids extended the longevities for individuals treated with chlorpyrifos at 15 (all sublethal concentrations) and 25 °C (LC15 and LC20) and with deltamethrin at 20 (LC1) and 28 °C (LC20). Additionally, the total number of nymphs produced during the females' lifespan was increased after sublethal exposure to chlorpyrifos at 15 °C (LC1, LC5, and LC20) and at 20 °C (LC10) and to deltamethrin at 20 °C (LC1), 25 °C (LC5 and LC10) and 28 °C (LC1, LC5, and LC20). …”

Biological effectiveness of combined exposure to neutrons and gamma radiation applied in two orders of sequence: Relevance for biological dosimetry after nuclear emergencies
Published 2025-02-01“…Conclusions: The results demonstrate that combined exposure to neutrons and gamma radiation, regardless of the order of sequence, leads to an additive response at both endpoints. This indicates that calibration curves for mixed beams can be constructed from dose response relationships of the single beam components.…”

The influence of maternal gestational weight gain on adverse perinatal outcomes
Published 2025-02-01“…The subjects were grouped according to different GWG, and logistic regression was used to analyze the impact of GWG on adverse outcomes, including hypertensive disorders of pregnancy (HDP), gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM), large-for-gestational-age infants (LGA), small-for-gestational-age infants (SGA), and preterm births.ResultsAmong the 9058 participants included in the study, there were 438 cases (4.8%) of HDP, including 266 cases (2.9%) of gestational hypertension and 172 cases (1.9%) of preeclampsia. Additionally, there were 2018 cases (22.3%) of GDM; Among the adverse birth outcomes for newborns, the prevalence was 9.7% for SGA, 9.9% for LGA, 1.4% for early/mid-term preterm births, and 4.2% for late preterm births. …”

Effect of Double Masking with Silk or Cotton Over-masks on the Source Control Capabilities of a Surgical Mask
Published 2022-04-01“…Not only can double masking reduce viral or bacterial transmission, but it can also promote surgical mask longevity, thereby reducing global waste and pollution associated with the use of disposable surgical masks. Finally, an additional study with five human subjects revealed no significant differences in perceived comfort (measured by proxies such as relative humidity, temperature, and CO2 level inside the mask) between single masking and double masking, as well as between double masking with either a silk or cotton over-mask.…”

Hypertension and retinal microvascular dysfunction (HyperVasc): protocol of a randomised controlled exercise trial in patients with hypertension
Published 2022-06-01“…However, it is still not clear whether high-intensity interval training (HIIT) is recommendable for patients with hypertension to reduce blood pressure, increase cardiorespiratory fitness and ameliorate vascular health. Methods and analysis The ‘Hypertension and retinal microvascular dysfunction’ trial will investigate macrovascular and microvascular impairments in hypertensive patients compared with healthy controls to investigate hypertension-induced end-organ damage by using gold-standard methods as well as newly developed unique retinal microvascular biomarkers. In addition, this trial will investigate the reversibility of retinal end-organ damage by assessing the effects of an 8-week supervised and walking based HIIT on blood pressure, cardiorespiratory fitness as well as macrovascular and microvascular health, compared with a control group following standard physical activity recommendations. …”
