Virginia Woolf and Vanessa Bell: Memoirs of Julian by S. P. Rosenbaum

    Published 2005-12-01
“…Woolf’s memoir also illuminates her early memoir-biography of Vanessa and her late ‘Sketch of the Past.’ Vanessa Bell’s brief memoir-notes of Julian were written in the anguished days following the shock of his death and reveal how mother and son were the most important loves of their lives.…”

Volcanically forced Madden–Julian oscillation triggers the immediate onset of El Niño by Hyemi Kim, Seung-Ki Min, Daehyun Kim, Daniele Visioni

    Published 2025-02-01
“…Although the influence of volcanic forcing on El Niño events has been studied extensively, the mechanisms driving the volcanically-induced immediate onset of El Niño remain uncertain, with many climate models producing a delayed El Niño response compared to observations. In this study, using large ensemble simulations that allow us to isolate the impacts of volcanic forcing on the El Niño response, we demonstrate a mechanism that highlights the central triggering role of the Madden–Julian oscillation (MJO), which has been overlooked in existing literature. …”

Toward an Understanding of the Madden-Julian Oscillation: With a Mesoscale-Convection-Resolving Model of 0.2 Degree Grid by Masanori Yamasaki

    Published 2011-01-01
“…In view of recent emphasis of the importance of the relative humidity above the boundary layer, it is shown that the model can simulate convective processes that moisten the atmosphere, and the importance of latent instability (positive CAPE), which is a necessary condition for the wave-CISK, is emphasized.…”

The Middle to Late Triassic of Central Saudi Arabia with emphasis on the Jilh Formation. Part I: lithostratigraphy, facies and paleoenvironments, palaeontology and biostratigraphic... by Le Nindre, Yves-Michel, Vaslet, Denis, Vrielynck, Bruno, Krystyn, Leopold, Manivit, Jacques, Memesh, Abdullah, Davies, Roger Brett

    Published 2023-06-01
“…Instead, new identifications of Middle and Late Triassic conodonts in the formation and at the base of the overlying Minjur Sandstone/Formation, allied to re-interpretation of previously described ammonoids, provide new paleogeographic and chronostratigraphic data, which improve our understanding of transgressive–regressive (T–R) sequences at the outcrop and platform scales and demonstrate that the lithostratigraphic units of the Jilh Formation were inconsistently recognized at outcrop north of 25°30$^{\prime }$N due to erosion by a fourth unit of early Alaunian (Middle Norian) age; this raises the issue of the Jilh–Minjur boundary addressed in Part II. …”
