Investigation of the Effects of Buildup Factors on Electromagnetic Radiation Dose
Published 2024-06-01“…In this study, dose conversion factors were calculated for outside exposures from gamma-rays. The calculations were established on the point-kernel integration method where two expressions for buildup factor were tested; (a) Taylor’s buildup factor and (b) Linear buildup factor. …”

Analysis of Floods in Xijiang River and Beijiang River Based on Copula Function
Published 2023-01-01“…It is of great significance to analyze the flood situation of the Xijiang River and Beijiang River for peak shifting regulation of reservoirs in the basin and flood control and disaster reduction in the Pearl River Delta. Therefore,Gamma distribution and Von Mises distribution are used to fit the flood magnitude and occurrence time of annual maximum flood, respectively. The Copula function is used to construct a joint distribution of floods in Xijiang River and Beijiang River, and the possibility of floods in Xijiang River and Beijiang River is analyzed. The results show that the probability of simultaneous occurrence of major floods in Xijiang River and Beijiang River is extremely small. When Shijiao Station in Beijiang River experiences floods at a level of 5,10,20,50,100,and 200 a,respectively, the probability of occurrence of floods with the same frequency in Gaoyao Station Xijiang River is 0.345 0,0.200 3,0.108 5,0.046 6,0.023 7,and 0.012 0,respectively.The probability of floods in the two rivers is the highest in early June.As the flood magnitude increases, the risk of flood occurrence decreases. The probability of floods at a level of 5 a in the two rivers in early June is 1.32×10-3,and that of floods at a level of 200 a is only 1.17×10-6.…”

Radioimmunoscintigraphy of Tumors Autocrine for Human Met and Hepatocyte Growth Factor/Scatter Factor
Published 2002-01-01“…We radioiodinated a mixture of monoclonal antibodies (MAbs) that bind to human HGF/SF and to the external ligand-binding domain of human Met, and then injected the I-125-MAb mixture intravenously into mice bearing tumors either autocrine for human HGF/SF and human Met or autocrine-paracrine for murine HGF/SF and murine Met. Serial total body gamma camera images were obtained, and regional activity was determined by quantitative region-of-interest (ROI) analysis. …”

Bayesian Estimation for the Doubly Censored Topp Leone Distribution using Approximate Methods and Fuzzy Type of Priors
Published 2022-01-01“…The Topp Leone distribution (TLD) is a lifetime model having finite support and U-shaped hazard rate; these features distinguish it from the famous lifetime models such as gamma, Weibull, or Log-normal distribution. The Bayesian methods are very much linked to the Fuzzy sets. …”

Therapeutic Actions of the Thiazolidinediones in Alzheimer’s Disease
Published 2015-01-01“…Currently, there is no effective therapy for AD; however several studies have shown that the treatments with the peroxisome proliferators activated receptor-gamma (PPARγ) agonists known as thiazolidinedione drugs (TZDs), like rosiglitazone and pioglitazone, attenuate neurodegeneration and improve cognition in mouse models and patients with mild-to-moderate AD. …”

Semantic prosody of deictic verbs in the Holy Qurʾān: a corpus study
Published 2025-01-01“…This indicates that semantic prosody is determined by intentions, contexts, pragmatic functions, collocates, and grammatical constructions. Therefore, it is recommended that researchers examine the semantic prosody of other deictic verbs and analyse the role of prepositions following deictic verbs in determining the semantic prosody of verbs in the Qurʾān.…”
