Association of extreme high temperature weather with non-accidental deaths among residents of Yichang city: a time-stratified case-crossover analysis
Published 2024-10-01“…After controlling for relative humidity (RH), fine particulate matter ≤ 2.5 μm in aerodynamic diameter (PM2.5), inhalable particulate matter ≤ 10 μm in aerodynamic diameter (PM10), sulfur dioxide (SO2), nitrogen dioxide (NO2), ozone (O3), carbon monoxide (CO), and the gender and age of the deceased, the time-stratified case-crossover analysis showed that all nine extreme high temperature events were positively correlated with increased risk of non-accidental deaths among Yichang residents, with a lag effect Except for the P92.5-2 d and P92.5-3 d events, which lasted until lag day 3, the effects of the other seven extreme high temperature events lasted until lag day 1. …”

WRF-Chem simulations of snow nitrate and other physicochemical properties in northern China
Published 2025-02-01“…The magnitude of snow chemical emissions is also influenced by snow physical properties, including snow depth, density, and concentrations of light-absorbing impurities (e.g., black carbon (BC) and dust). Exploring and elucidating the emissions and atmospheric consequences of the snow-sourced reactive species require a global or regional model with a snow module. …”

Assessing the Dark Matter Content of Two Quasar Host Galaxies at z ∼ 6 through Gas Kinematics
Published 2025-01-01“…We then determine the mass profiles of each component (stars, gas, dark matter) with priors on the baryon and dark matter properties. We find relatively large dark matter fractions within their effective radii ( f _DM ( R < R _e ) = ${0.61}_{-0.08}^{+0.08}$ and ${0.53}_{-0.23}^{+0.20}$ , respectively), which are significantly larger than those extrapolated from lower redshift studies and remain robust under different input parameters verified by Monte Carlo simulations. …”

Duckweed: a starch-hyperaccumulating plant under cultivation with a combination of nutrient limitation and elevated CO2
Published 2025-02-01“…In this study, we integrated whole-genome sequencing, epigenomics, transcriptomics, enzyme activity, and composition variation to elucidate the mechanisms of efficient starch accumulation in duckweed in terms of starch accumulation and carbon partitioning, regulation of the expression of genes in the starch metabolic pathway, and sucrose biosynthesis and transportation. Results and discussionAlthough Landoltia punctata exhibits dramatic gene family contraction, its starch content and productivity reached 72.2% (dry basis) and 10.4 g m-2 d-1, respectively, in 10 days, equivalent to a yield of 38.0 t ha-1 y-1, under nutrient limitation treatment with elevated CO2 levels. …”
