Active Vibration Control of the Sting Used in Wind Tunnel: Comparison of Three Control Algorithms
Published 2018-01-01“…In wind tunnel tests, cantilever stings are often used as model-mount in order to reduce flow interference on experimental data. In this case, however, large-amplitude vibration and low-frequency vibration are easily produced on the system, which indicates the potential hazards of gaining inaccurate data and even damaging the structure. …”

Acute stimulation of PBMCs drives switch from dopamine-induced anti- to proinflammatory phenotype of monocytes only in women
Published 2025-02-01“…In this study, we investigated the effects of dopaminergic stimulation on activation and cytokine secretion of peripheral blood mononuclear cells from women and men using flow cytometry, ELISA, and multiplex assays. We found a B cell-driven downregulation in cytokine secretion of monocytes exclusively from women under physiological conditions in vitro. …”

A simplified computational liver perfusion model, with applications to organ preservation
Published 2025-01-01“…In each model, we solve for a common lumped resistance value assigned to the super lobules, allowing the overall physiological blood pressure and flow rate through the liver to be preserved. We demonstrate our approach’s ability to maintain consistency between models of varying depth. …”

PET Quantification of Cerebral Oxygen Metabolism in Small Animals
Published 2014-01-01“…Since small animals such as rats are widely used to study various diseases including cerebral ischemia, cerebrovascular diseases, and neurodegenerative diseases, the development of a noninvasive in vivo measurement method of cerebral oxygen metabolic parameters such as oxygen extraction fraction (OEF) and cerebral metabolic rate of oxygen (CMRO2) as well as cerebral blood flow (CBF) and cerebral blood volume (CBV) has been a priority. …”

Neo-BCV: A Novel Bacterial Liquid Complex Vaccine for Enhancing Dendritic Cell-Mediated Immune Responses Against Lung Cancer
Published 2025-01-01“…Methods: We investigated the immune enhancing effect of Neo-BCV through in vivo and in vitro experiments, including flow cytometry, RNA-seq, and Western blot. Results: We have demonstrated that Neo-BCV can promote Dendritic cells (DCs) maturation and induce DCs differentiation into pro-inflammatory subgroups, significantly enhancing cytotoxic T lymphocyte (CTL)-mediated anti-tumor responses. …”

Optimal Bus-Bridging Service under a Metro Station Disruption
Published 2018-01-01“…Two main contributions are made: (1) a three-layer discrete choice behavior model is developed to analyze the dynamic passenger flow demand under station disruption; and (2) an integrated algorithm is designed to manage and control the station disruption crisis by providing additional bus-bridging services with the objective of minimizing the total travel time of affected passengers and the operating cost of bridging-buses. …”

Global value chains and intra-BRICs trade in value-added
Published 2024-01-01“…We analyze the BRICs countries' role in Global Value Chains (GVCs) and their trade patterns in value-added and vertical specialization, using the World Input-Output Database (WIOD) from 2000-2014 with a decomposition model of intermediate goods and trade flows. Our findings reveal increased connectivity within global value chains, particularly for China and India. …”

Published 2021-06-01“…The goal of this study was to investigate distribution patterns of interstitial harpacticoid assemblages from four pre-Alpine streams originating in the Dinaric Karst and flowing into the Ljubljanica River. The sampling was conducted in 2002 at 12 locations distributed at a distance of approximately 1 km along each stream including tributaries, at a depth of 30–60 cm in the wetted channel (three sites per location) and depths from 65 to 160 cm on the stream banks (one site per location) using a Bou-Rouch pump. …”

Porphyromonas gingivalis affects neutrophil pro-inflammatory activities
Published 2025-01-01“…To investigate the impact of gingipains on neutrophil viability and function, we conducted studies using murine HoxB8 neutrophils and primary human neutrophils infected with wild-type strains of Porphyromonas gingivalis (W83 and ATCC 33277), or a gingipains-null mutant with deleted gingipains encoding genes, or wild-type bacteria preincubated with specific gingipain inhibitors. Flow cytometry revealed that wild-type Porphyromonas gingivalis had a marked effect on neutrophil viability regulated by anti-apoptotic proteins belonging to the Bcl-2 family; however, these effects were independent of gingipain expression or activity. …”
