A non-autonomous stochastic predator-prey model
Published 2013-09-01“…The aim of this paper is to consider a non-autonomous predator-prey-like system, with a Gompertz growth law for the prey.By introducing random variations in both prey birth and predator death rates,a stochastic model for the predator-prey-like system in a random environment is proposed and investigated. The corresponding Fokker-Planck equation is solved to obtain the joint probability density for the prey and predator populations and the marginal probability densities. The asymptotic behavior of the predator-prey stochastic model is also analyzed.…”

Some strange things about the mechanical properties of glass
Published 2023-01-01“…Nevertheless, they differ by the arrangement of bonds in space, which gives birth to different atomic packing efficiencies. We show in this review that as far as the elastic moduli and hardness are concerned, the atomic packing density predominates over the bond strength. …”

Like Mother, Like Daughter. Intergenerational Transmission of Infant Mortality Clustering in Zeeland, the Netherlands, 1833-1912
Published 2018-02-01“…In this paper, we focus on the intergenerational transmission of mortality clustering in the Netherlands in the province of Zeeland between 1833 and 1912, using LINKS Zeeland, a dataset containing family reconstitutions based on civil certificates of birth, marriage and death. We assess whether intergenerational transmission of mortality clustering occurred in Zeeland, and if so, whether it can be explained on the basis of the demographic characteristics of the families in which the infants were born. …”

The HSN and the Netherlands Indies: Challenge and Promise
Published 2021-03-01“…While Dutch colonial military service was often the first step to make a career in colonial Indonesia, for Europeans from abroad it was rather a move of desperation as well as an attempt to earn some money that would enable them to start a business and a family in their country of birth. Their migration experience was rather a 'life cycle' migration. …”

Tat[o]ueur : pouvoirs du tatouage dans Little Tulip, de Jerome Charyn et François Boucq
Published 2023-11-01“…Beyond exposing the very concrete powers that enable the young tatoo artist to survive in Siberia by both respecting and transgressing the rules of the camp, and then to roam the violent streets of New York city, Little Tulip explores the laws of art that each drawing contains: rules that allow the artist to walk the thin line between art and magic, where the indelible ink of tatoo can paradoxically give birth to invisibility.…”

Modelling Population Growth with Delayed Nonlocal Reaction in 2-Dimensions
Published 2004-10-01“…New reaction-diffusionequation models with delayed nonlocal reaction are developed intwo-dimensional bounded domains combining different boundary conditions. The important feature of the models is the reflection of the jointeffect of the diffusion dynamics and the nonlocal maturation delayed effect. We consider and analyze numerical solutions of the mature populationdynamics with some well-known birth functions. In particular,we observe and study the occurrences of asymptotically stablesteady state solutionsand periodic waves for the two-dimensional problems withnonlocal delayed reaction. …”
