Prevalence of potentially inappropriate prescribing in a subpopulation of older European clinical trial participants: a cross-sectional study
Published 2018-03-01“…Objectives To estimate and compare the prevalence and type of potentially inappropriate prescribing (PIP) and potential prescribing omissions (PPOs) among community-dwelling older adults (≥65 years) enrolled to a clinical trial in three European countries.Design A secondary analysis of the Thyroid Hormone Replacement for Subclinical Hypothyroidism Trial dataset.Participants A subset of 48/80 PIP and 22/34 PPOs indicators from the Screening Tool of Older Persons Prescriptions/Screening Tool to Alert doctors to Right Treatment (STOPP/START) V2 criteria were applied to prescribed medication data for 532/737 trial participants in Ireland, Switzerland and the Netherlands. Results The overall prevalence of PIP was lower in the Irish participants (8.7%) compared with the Swiss (16.7%) and Dutch (12.5%) participants (P=0.15) and was not statistically significant. …”

Biomass burning emission analysis based on MODIS aerosol optical depth and AeroCom multi-model simulations: implications for model constraints and emission inventories
Published 2025-02-01“…By comparing multi-model simulations and satellite observations in the vicinity of fires over 13 regions globally, we (1) assess model-simulated BB<span id="page1546"/> AOD performance as an indication of smoke source–strength, (2) identify regions where the common emission dataset used by the models might underestimate or overestimate smoke sources, and (3) assess model diversity and identify underlying causes as much as possible. …”

Pathways Through Which Green Exposure Type Influences Cardiovascular Diseases Mortality in Shanghai, China
Published 2025-02-01“…The research draws on diverse data sources to ensure robust analysis: CVDs mortality data provided by the Shanghai Municipal Center for Disease Control and Prevention, PM2.5 concentration data retrieved from MODIS satellite imaging, temperature data sourced from Google Earth Engine, and LBS (location based services) data serving as the basis for estimating physical activity levels. This comprehensive dataset allows for an in-depth exploration of the pathways through which green exposure influences cardiovascular health in an urban context.ResultsThe research finds that green exposure primarily influences CVDs mortality through physical activity levels, based on which a pathway of “green exposure − physical activity level − CVDs mortality” is established (pathway coefficient = -0.184, p < 0.05). …”
