TGFβ1 Controls PPARγ Expression, Transcriptional Potential, and Activity, in Part, through Smad3 Signaling in Murine Lung Fibroblasts by Allan Ramirez, Erin N. Ballard, Jesse Roman

    Published 2012-01-01
“…The ability of TGFβ1 to modulate the transcriptional activity of PPARγ was then tested in NIH/3T3 fibroblasts containing a PPARγ-responsive luciferase reporter. In these cells, stimulation of TGFβ1 signals with a constitutively active TGFβ1 receptor transgene blunted PPARγ-dependent reporter expression induced by troglitazone, a PPARγ activator. …”

Digital watermarking method based on context word prediction and window compression coding by Lingyun XIANG, Minghao HUANG, Chenling ZHANG, Chunfang YANG

    Published 2024-02-01
“…To address the problems of limited number of substitutable words and low watermark extraction efficiency in the existing natural language digital watermarking methods, a creative method based on context word prediction and window compression coding was proposed.Firstly, the contextual semantic features of each word in the original text were automatically learned through a neural network language model, and then the candidate word set for each word was predicted, thus the number of substitutable words that could be utilized for carrying watermark information was expanded.Meanwhile, considering the difference of the semantic impact caused by the substitutions of candidate words at different positions, the watermark information was embedded into each window containing several words, and the selection of candidate words for watermark embedding was optimized by the similarity between sentences before and after performing word substitutions. Finally, a semantic-independent window compression coding method was proposed, which encoded each window as appointed watermark information in terms of the character information of words contained in the window. So that during watermark extraction, the dependence on the original context at the position of word substitution was eliminated. The experimental results show that the proposed method greatly improves the watermark extraction efficiency with high embedding capacity and text quality.…”

Microscopic Analysis of Severe Structural Rearrangements of the Plant Endoplasmic Reticulum and Golgi Caused by Overexpression of Poa semilatent virus Movement Protein by Andrey G. Solovyev, Joachim Schiemann, Sergey Y. Morozov

    Published 2012-01-01
“…Here we report microscopic studies of the influence of the Poa semilatent hordeivirus TGBp3 overexpressed in Nicotiana benthamiana epidermal cells by particle bombardment on cell endomembranes and demonstrate that the protein C-terminal transmembrane segment contains a determinant responsible for vesiculation and coalescence of the endoplasmic reticulum and Golgi presumably accompanying the ER stress that can be induced upon high-level TGBp3 expression.…”

Disease Spread in Coupled Populations: Minimizing Response Strategies Costs in Discrete Time Models by Geisel Alpízar, Luis F. Gordillo

    Published 2013-01-01
“…In both examples we compute approximations for the control levels necessary to minimize costs and quickly contain outbreaks. The main technique used is simulated annealing, a stochastic search optimization tool that, in contrast with traditional analytical methods, allows easy implementation to any number of patches with different kinds of couplings and internal dynamics.…”

Les relations économiques sino-américaines pendant les années Bush (2001-2008) : vers une stratégie de « dissuasion économique » ? by Juliette Bourdin

    Published 2010-03-01
“…While the Bush administration had initially advocated a strategy of “congagement” (containment/ engagement) and had defined China as a “strategic competitor”, not only did 9/11 change Washington’s immediate priorities, but, with the US-China economic interdependency, the only realistic strategy between Washington and Beijing seemed to consist in “economic deterrence.”…”

Entomological assessment of hessian fabric transfluthrin vapour emanators for protecting against outdoor-biting Aedes aegypti in coastal Tanzania. by Nicodem J Govella, Alphonce Assenga, Amos T Mlwale, Nosrat Mirzai, Eimear Heffernan, Jennie Moriarty, John Wenger, Vincent Corbel, Justin McBeath, Sheila B Ogoma, Gerry F Killeen

    Published 2024-01-01
“…Air samples collected immediately downwind from an emanator treated with the highest transfluthrin dose (15g), contained 12 to 19 μg/m3 transfluthrin vapour.<h4>Conclusions</h4>It appears unlikely that the moderate levels of pyrethroid resistance observed in wild Ae. aegypti can explain the modest-to-undetectable levels of protection exhibited. …”

Secretion and signaling activities of lipoprotein-associated hedgehog and non-sterol-modified hedgehog in flies and mammals. by Wilhelm Palm, Marta M Swierczynska, Veena Kumari, Monika Ehrhart-Bornstein, Stefan R Bornstein, Suzanne Eaton

    Published 2013-01-01
“…Multiple mechanisms have been proposed to release Hh proteins in distinct forms; in Drosophila, lipoproteins facilitate long-range Hh mobilization but also contain lipids that repress the pathway. Here, we show that mammalian lipoproteins have conserved roles in Sonic Hedgehog (Shh) release and pathway repression. …”
