Poor Glycemic Control in Carbapenem-Resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae Infections: Impact on Epidemiological Features, Mortality Risks, and Polymyxin Resistance by Wang Q, Yan T, Ma C, Teng X, Shen C, Wang N, Yu K, Chu W, Zhou Q, Liu Z

    Published 2025-02-01
“…Antibiotic sensitivity, capsular serotypes, and virulence genes were tested of the strains. Three clinically isolated CRKP strains were used to investigate the effect of glucose on bacterial capsule synthesis and the impact on bacterial resistance to polymyxin and serum killing. Results: Patients with poor glycemic control experienced more severe infections and had a higher likelihood of chronic kidney disease (CKD) and acute renal insufficiency compared to those with good glycemic control. …”

Egyptian Novel Goose Parvovirus in Immune Organs of Naturally Infected Ducks: Next-Generation Sequencing, Immunohistochemical Signals, and Comparative Analysis of Pathological Chan... by Mohamed A. Lebdah, Amal A. M. Eid, Reham M. ElBakrey, Abd Elgalil. El-Gohary, Mohamed G. Seadawy, Mohamed R. Mousa, Hagar F. Gouda, Nehal I. A. Goda, Mostafa F. El-Hosseny, Ahmed S. El-tahlawy, Rokayya Sami, Rasha A. Al-Eisa, Sarah S. Helal

    Published 2025-01-01
“…Next-generation sequencing and phylogenetic analysis revealed that the detected virus was a variant of GPV, globally named novel GPV (NGPV), and closely related to Chinese NGPV isolates. To our knowledge, the current study is pioneering to address the immunopathological impact of NGPV among naturally infected ducks confirmed with full genome sequencing and immunohistochemical identification worldwide.…”

Population genetic analysis of clinical Mycobacterium abscessus complex strains in China by Xiangchen Li, Xiangchen Li, Yelei Zhu, Yewei Lu, Kunyang Wu, Yang Che, Xiaomeng Wang, Weixin Wang, Junli Gao, Junshun Gao, Zhengwei Liu, Zhengwei Liu, Zhuxian Zhou

    Published 2025-01-01
“…BackgroundTo explore the genetic characteristics of the Mycobacterium abscessus complex (MABC) population in China, given its rising clinical importance among nontuberculous mycobacteria.MethodsWe conducted population genetic analyses on 360 MABC genomes from China, focusing on core genome multilocus sequence typing (cgMLST), pan-genome characterization, population genetics, and antimicrobial resistance gene profiling.ResultsOur analysis identified 273 M. abscessus subsp. abscessus (MabA) and 87 M. abscessus subsp. massiliense (MabM) isolates, uncovering 68 sequence types (STs), with ST5 being the most common. cgMLST classified 33.3% of isolates into six dominant circulating clones (DCCs) and 49.4% into 59 genomic clusters at a threshold of 25 different alleles, including 18 international clusters linking Chinese isolates with seven other countries. …”
