A survey on joint optimization of MEC caching and transcoding for video streaming by Jia LI, Renchao XIE, Qingmin JIA, Tao HUANG, Yunjie LIU, Li SUN

    Published 2018-08-01
“…To deal with the huge challenges in futuremobile networks, the industry has proposed adaptive bit rate(ABR)technology andmobile edge computing(MEC),aiming to provide users with diverse services of high quality of experience, low latency and high bandwidth.Combining ABR and MEC to optimize the distribution of video content has been quite important for improving network performance and quality of experience.Especially, the joint optimization of network resources has arisen as an essential research topic. An overview of MEC was firstly given, and then the existing work in the industry on the joint optimization problem of MEC caching and transcoding oriented to adaptive streaming was analyzed and compared. Finally, the existing challenges in the future were summarized.…”

Theoretical analysis for the data immigration between memory and processor percolation cache by Jiuchuan HU, Dongrui FAN, Jiancong CHENG, Long YAN, Xiaochun YE, Lingzhi LI, Liangyi WAN, Haibin ZHONG

    Published 2021-08-01
“…To improve the computer processor’s memory access efficiency, increase hit rates, reduce data fetching latency, the data and instructors that had close relation with each other could build the just-in-time locality environment on processor’s cache. To build such an environment, the relations between the data and instructors should be studied while them being immigrated into on-chip cache. The research results show that these relations could be well kept when the data and instructors are moved. The simulation also shows that the percolation cache can help the processor core to increase its hit rates. These research results give a new way to build the just-in-time locality environment on the percolation cache.…”

Cooperative service caching and peer offloading in Internet of vehicles based on multi-agent meta-reinforcement learning by Zhaolong NING, Kaiyuan ZHANG, Xiaojie WANG, Lei GUO

    Published 2021-06-01
“…In order to reduce computation complexity, a two-layer mutli-RSU (road side unit) service caching and peer offloading algorithm (MPO) was proposed to decouple the optimization problem. In the designed MPO, the outer layer utilized multi-agent meta-reinforcement learning, which established long short-term memory (LSTM) network as the meta-agent to balance decisions of local agents and accelerate learning progress. The inner layer utilized lagrange multiplier method to achieve optimal decision for RSU peer offloading.Experimental results based on real traffic data in Hangzhou demonstrate that the proposed method outperforms other methods and remains robust under large-scale workloads.…”

A Storage System for Image File in Cloud Computing by Hongfa Wang

    Published 2014-02-01
“…As cloud computing enters the mainstream, the numbers of virtual machine in one cloud pool is becoming more and more. So,how to quickly and cheaply migrate virtual machines between different hosts for load balance and power savings is becoming one of the hot and tough problems in this filed for the researchers.A distributed storage system was presented, which was called IFSpool. The system was based on Lustre and was designed to achieve the following three goals:high capacity and high extensibility to support thousands of VM images, high I/O throughput for data access, and booting optimization for boot storm.IFSpool combined a queue mechanism and a cache mechanism in a seamless way,to improve I/O throughput and lighten the boot storm by coordinating data access order. The I/O bandwidth and storage capacity of IFSpool can be easily aggregated and extended by adding storage nodes and servers dynamically. The experimental results show that IFSpool is effective and efficient for VM migration.…”

Building method of distributed COW disk on network computing environment by Huai-liang TAN, Zheng LUO, Zai-hong HE, Ren-fa LI

    Published 2012-07-01
“…Aiming to distributed computing and data centralizing storage in large-scale network computing environments and combining sparse and bursting characteristic of COW(copy-on-write) disk storing modified data blocks, the distributed COW network disk architecture was presented. The system building process of network computing environments was speeded up by apportioning the aggregation spending that server manages all related COW disks of client hosts to each client host.A improving 64bit bitmap compress arithmetic was designed to reduce the size of COW disk’s bitmap,so server disk space was saved and the network communication spending of distributed COW disk was less. The modified prefetching arithmetic based on COW bursting blocks was presented to improve the hit rate of Cache relating with distributed COW disk.Experiments on the prototype show that the distributed COW mechanism can effectively reduce system building latency of multi-client hosts network computing environment based on improving COW bitmap compress and prefetching arithmetic.…”
