Experimental investigation of pretensioned bolts under cyclic loading: Damage assessment using acoustic emission by Tieliang An, Xigui Zheng, Dengxing Zhu, Deyu Qian, Yu Guo, Juncai Cao

    Published 2019-05-01
“…The following main conclusions were drawn: (1) With a higher loading frequency, the acoustic emission counts rate increases, while the total energy released in a given cyclic loading path decreases. (2) A fitting formula is established according to the relationship between the tension amplitude and cumulative acoustic emission counts, which can analyze the tension magnitude level of the cyclic load. (3) A damage factor for a cyclic load is proposed based on the acoustic emission counts generated during the cyclic and monotonic loading process that can analyze the degree of damage to the anchorage system caused by the cyclic load. (4) Based on the spatial distribution of the acoustic emission orientation points and the acoustic emission energy generated during the pull-out process, the acoustic emission damage evolution process of the anchorage specimens is deduced, and the mechanism of the high stability of the pretension anchorage system after cyclic loading is analyzed. …”

Associations of Trauma Severity with Mean Platelet Volume and Levels of Systemic Inflammatory Markers (IL1β, IL6, TNFα, and CRP) by Baris Alper, Baris Erdogan, Mehmet Özgür Erdogan, Korkut Bozan, Murat Can

    Published 2016-01-01
“…We investigated the associations of injury severity scores (ISSs) with the mean platelet volume, the serum levels of two interleukins (IL1β and IL6), and the serum levels of tumour necrosis factor-α (TNFα) and C-reactive protein (CRP). We sought to identify biochemical parameters that could be used as components of a new biochemical parameter-based ISS system. …”

Complexity in Individual Trajectories toward Online Extremism by Z. Cao, M. Zheng, Y. Vorobyeva, C. Song, N. F. Johnson

    Published 2018-01-01
“…A generalization of diagrammatic expansion theory helps quantify these characteristics, including the impact of changes in geographical location, and can facilitate prediction of future risks. By quantifying the trajectories that individuals follow on their journey toward expressing high levels of pro-ISIS support—irrespective of whether they then carry out a real-world attack or not—our findings can help move safety debates beyond reliance on static watch-list identifiers such as ethnic background or immigration status and/or postfact interviews with already convicted individuals. …”

Coupled Effect of Water Temperature and Cyclic Wetting and Drying on Dynamic Mechanical Characteristics of Sandstone by Pu Yuan, Ning-Ning Wei, Qin-Yong Ma, Ju-Cai Chang

    Published 2019-01-01
“…After 15 cycles of wetting and drying, the deterioration of both physical and dynamic uniaxial compressive characteristics first increase then decrease with water temperature in wetting process elevating from 20°C to 98°C. SEM images indicate that more microcracks generate when water temperatures increase from 20°C to 60°C, while the micromorphology is changed and fewer microcracks display due to kaolinite mobilization when water temperature increases from 60°C to 98°C. …”
