Non-contact tracking of shoulder bones using ultrasound and stereophotogrammetry
Published 2025-02-01“…PurposeWe explored the integration of 3D ultrasound (US) imaging with motion capture technology for non-invasively tracking bones of the shoulder district during normal activity. Our study aimed to demonstrate ex-vivo the proposed 3D US method’s feasibility and accuracy of tracking shoulder bones in a controlled cadaveric shoulder positioned in various arm elevations (low, mid and high).MethodWe registered previously acquired full bone shapes to spatially small bony surface patches segmented from 3D US. …”

Prenatal and neonatal factors for the development of childhood visual impairment in primary and middle school students: a cross-sectional survey in Guangzhou, China
Published 2020-09-01“…The following factors were significantly associated with an increased risk of VIUC: female gender, high birth weight, formula feeding, not having siblings, higher level of parents’ education, parental myopia, much homework time and little outdoor activity. Delivery mode was not associated with the risk of VIUC.Conclusions This study validates known major prenatal/genetic, perinatal and postnatal factors for childhood VIUC. …”

A lipidated peptide derived from the C-terminal tail of the vasopressin 2 receptor shows promise as a new β-arrestin inhibitor
Published 2025-02-01“…Molecular modelling studies also revealed that ARIP binds β-arrestins as does V2Rpp, the phosphorylated peptide derived from V2R, and that replacing the p-Ser and p-Thr residues of V2Rpp with Glu residues does not alter ARIP’s inhibitory activity on β-arrestin recruitment. Importantly, ARIP exerted an opioid-sparing effect in vivo, as intrathecal injection of ARIP potentiated morphine’s analgesic effect in the tail-flick test, consistent with previous findings of genetic inhibition of β-arrestins. …”

Type B thymomas in patients with myasthenia gravis display a distinctive pattern of αβ TCR and IL-7 receptor α expression on CD4+CD8+ thymocytes
Published 2024-12-01“…In this study, we conducted a comparative phenotype analysis of thymocytes in type B thymomas in patients with MG (MG (+) thymomas) and without MG (MG (−) thymomas) via fluorescence-activated cell sorting (FACS). Our results show that the developmental stages defined by the expression of CD3, CD4, and CD8 were largely maintained in both MG (+) and MG (−) thymomas, with CD4+CD8+ cells constituting the majority of thymocytes in type B thymoma, and no significant difference between this cell population was observed in MG (+) and MG (−) thymomas. We discovered that CD4+CD8+ thymocytes in MG (+) thymomas expressed low levels of αβ TCR and high levels of IL-7 receptor α (IL-7Rα), whereas in MG (−) thymomas, CD4+CD8+ thymocytes exhibited the opposite pattern of αβ TCR and IL-7Rα expression. …”
