Parameter Identification of the 2-Chlorophenol Oxidation Model Using Improved Differential Search Algorithm by Guang-zhou Chen, Jia-quan Wang, Ru-zhong Li

    Published 2015-01-01
“…To verify the effectiveness of the improved algorithms, the optimization performance of improved DS in kinetic parameter estimation is studied and compared with that of the basic DS algorithm, differential evolution, artificial bee colony optimization, and quantum-behaved particle swarm optimization. And the experimental results demonstrate that the DS with the Latin hypercube sampling method does not present better performance, while the hybrid methods have the advantages of strong global search ability and local search ability and are more effective than the other algorithms.…”

Dogs distinguish authentic human emotions without being empathic by Juliane Bräuer, Dorothea Eichentopf, Nomi Gebele, Louise Jandke, Veronique Mann, Katharina Schulte, Yana Bender

    Published 2024-09-01
“…Through a detailed analysis of dog behavior in these naturalistic settings, we investigated whether dogs show behavioral responses to genuine human emotions. We found that dogs behaved differently depending on the owner’s emotional state: they gazed and jumped less at owners when they were sad, and their compliance with the ‘sit’ command was also diminished. …”

Response of Partly Recrystallized Microstructure to the Rapid Heat Treatment in TC18 Alloy by Fucheng Qiu, Orest Ivasishin, Shucheng Dong, Tuo Cheng, Dmytro Savvakin, Xinlin Li

    Published 2022-01-01
“…Due to that and, presumably, to different defect density, the two parts behaved differently upon rapid heating and ageing keeping the properties fluctuated depending on the fraction of the nonrecrystallized part in the particular specimen since nonrecrystallized material remained harder and stronger and therefore more inclined for microcracks to nucleate and grow. …”
