Mechanisms by which Human Cells Bypass Damaged Bases during DNA Replication after Ultraviolet Irradiation by James E. Cleaver

    Published 2002-01-01
“…The mechanism of the secondary bypass is unclear, but a number of experiments suggests roles for excision repair to remove damage ahead of replication forks, hRad6/18 proteolysis to clear the blocked forks, and the Rad17-RFC and 9-1-1 complexes to establish a new replication apparatus. …”

Research on Flood Impact and River Regime of Skew Bridges Crossing River Bend Based on FVM Method by NIU Jiao, CHENG Jingqing, YAN Xiaoyu, JIA Lei, WANG Zhichao

    Published 2021-01-01
“…Based on finite volume method (FVM) and two-dimension unstructured grid, taking a skew bridge crossing the river bend as the research object, this paper builds a hydrodynamic model of the upstream and downstream of the bridge, and simulates and analyzes the impact of bridge construction on the upstream and downstream water level, flow velocity and river regime under different frequency floods. The results show that:Due to the water blocking action of the piers, the upstream water level of the bridge increases, the flow velocity between the piers increases, and the flow velocity of water face and back face of the piers decreases. As there is a angle between piers of the skew bridge and the natural river course, the water level on the left bank in the downstream rises and the right bank in the downstream drops. The flow velocity and sediment-carrying capacity on the left bank increases compared to those before the project, while those on the right bank decreases, and the affected area was concentrated in the river section near the bridge location. The river section where the bridge is located is bent. The bridge can play a positive role in preventing the siltation of convex bank (left bank) and the scour of concave bank (right bank) downstream the bridge. The research results can provide reference for the design of skew bridge.…”

Performance Deterioration of Pitot Tubes Caused by In-Flight Ice Accretion: A Numerical Investigation by Hao Zhang, Rui Zhao, Chih-Yung Wen

    Published 2021-01-01
“…Under varying inflow conditions and wall temperatures, the calculated ice accretion performance indicates that the ambient temperature has the most significant effect on the icing-induced failure time, leading to an almost exponential growth. Meanwhile, the blocking time is found to be linearly proportional to the increase in wall temperature. …”

TSG-6 Downregulates IFN-Alpha and TNF-Alpha Expression by Suppressing IRF7 Phosphorylation in Human Plasmacytoid Dendritic Cells by L. Kui, G. C. Chan, P. P. W. Lee

    Published 2017-01-01
“…Following recombinant human TSG-6 treatment and CpG-A or R837 stimulation, significant reduction in IFN-α and TNF-α was observed in healthy donors’ pDCs, and the same phenomenon was confirmed in GEN2.2. By CD44 blocking assay, we deduced that the suppressive effect of TSG-6 is mediated by CD44, by reducing IRF-7 phosphorylation. …”
