Traffic modeling for machine type communication and its overload control
Published 2013-09-01“…Machine type communications (MTC),defined as machine to machine communication over cellular mobile network,is an integral part of future ubiquitous network and has broad application prospects and market potentials. To carry out the performance analysis of network in context of MTC applications,a Beta/M/1 queue model was proposed for modeling the network with MTC applications and its full performance analysis wer iven out by deducing the analytical expression of Beta distribution’s moment generation function,in which the shape parameters of Beta distribut are as-sumed to be integer. In addition,to handle the congestion caused by mass concurrent data and signaling transmission from many MTC devices, three overload control measures were also presented, that is:1) inter-class grouping techniques; 2) re-shaping the inter-arrival time distribution of MTC devices; 3) segment-wise uniform back-off scheme. The Beta/M/1 mod-el and segment-wise uniform back-off scheme proposed here can be used as a preliminary model for different MTC ap-plication scenarios and serve as a fundamental traffic model and overload control method for future ubiquitous network.…”

World Climate Research Programme lighthouse activity: an assessment of major research gaps in solar radiation modification research
Published 2025-02-01“…., the Paris Agreement, is going to be extremely challenging using conventional mitigation techniques. While future scenarios of climate change frequently include extensive use of terrestrial and marine carbon dioxide removal in the second part of the 21st century, it is unproven that these techniques can be scaled-up to reach the scale required to significantly reduce concentrations of atmospheric carbon dioxide and significant uncertainties and detrimental side-effects exist. …”

Engagements étudiants en Algérie post-22 février. Sociohistoire d’un mouvement « désenchanté »
Published 2023-12-01“…The weakening of the movement as a result of repression in the pre- and post-election context of 12/12 and the restrictions on gatherings due to the coronavirus pandemic raise questions about the effects of continuity/discontinuity and mobilisation/demobilisation within the student hirak.Continuous observation of the marches and in-depth discussions with several of the movement's protagonists have highlighted a number of observations. This text highlights two phases of the student hirak. Firstly, national history was a unifying element: the students seemed to want to take part in writing the national novel; they drew on the rhetoric of memories and history through slogans, songs linked to the national movement and symbols of the war of national liberation. …”
