The tourist experience: an experience of the frameworks of the tourist experience? by Hécate Vergopoulos

    Published 2016-12-01
“…Finally, within the framework of the third approach, which is highly influenced by management sciences, it becomes a program for consumption for tourist action. This last meaning in particular highlights the fact that the tourist experience thus defined is perhaps less the experience of otherness than the experience of the consumption of another, or, to say it differently, the fact that the tourist experience is maybe ultimately only an experience of the frameworks of tourist consumption.…”

Linking machine learning and biophysical structural features in drug discovery by Armin Ahmadi, Shivangi Gupta, Vineetha Menon, Jerome Baudry

    Published 2025-01-01
“…This novel approach integrates biophysical insights with machine learning, focusing on pharmacophoric properties such as charge, hydrogen bonding, hydrophobicity, and aromaticity.ResultsResults showed significant enrichment of true positive ligands—improving database enrichment by up to 54-fold compared to random selection—demonstrating the robustness of this approach across diverse proteins.ConclusionUnlike conventional structure-based or ligand-based screening methods, this work emphasizes the role of specific protein conformations in driving ligand binding, making the process highly interpretable and actionable for drug discovery. The key innovation lies in identifying pharmacophore features tied to conformations selected by ligands, offering a predictive framework for optimizing drug candidates. …”

Safety Detection and Assessment of Aqueduct Supporting Structure under Lateral Impact Load by LI Jun, CUI Dehao, YOU Ri, HAO Jie, PAN Wenming

    Published 2023-01-01
“…In view of the structural damage of an aqueduct pile-pillar supporting structure caused by ship collisions, relevant engineering data were collected, and on-site detection and monitoring analysis were carried out.In addition, the finite element method was used to establish a three-dimensional entity analytical model of the aqueduct pile-pillar structure.Under the joint action of the coupled foundation and pile foundation and superstructure, numerical simulation and calculation analysis were carried out on the pile-pillar collision process. The distribution and characteristics of the damage of the supporting structure caused by collisions were studied and verified. The finite element numerical simulation results show that the high-stress area of the aqueduct pile-pillar structure during the ship collision process can be divided into two categories according to the cause. One is the high-stress area caused by the direct contact load, which occurs in the collision contact surface and the adjacent area between the ship in a collision and the bearing platform, and the other is caused by the overall bending deformation of the pile-pillar structure, which occurs in the dangerous section of the pile-pillar structure and the bearing platform connection. In addition, the simulation analysis and on-site detection results are consistent.By assessing the influence of ship collisions and checking the potential safety hazards of the aqueduct, the research results lay a foundation for the maintenance, reinforcement, and design of the aqueduct.…”
