Function mechanism of turbulent eddy and process intensification of particle-bubble collision in fine mineral flotation by Xiaoheng LI, Hainan WANG, Kaixin ZHENG, Lijun WANG, Xiaokang YAN, Haijun ZHANG, Jiongtian LIU

    Published 2024-12-01
“…Bubbles and particles achieve mineralization through shear collision. Based on this, the vortex construction methods for the high vorticity small-scale eddy fields such as shock flow and vortex generators have been proposed, which enable the turbulent eddy motion of flow field in flotation to effectively act on fine particles, improve the probability of collision between fine particles and bubbles, and reduce the lower limit of effective recovery particle size in flotation. …”

Treatment outcomes and associated factors among patients with multidrug-resistant tuberculosis in Ashanti Region, Ghana: a retrospective, cross-sectional study by Peter Agyei-Baffour, Victoria Panford, Emmanuel Kumah, Collins Kokuro, Prince Owusu Adoma, Michael Afari Baidoo, Adam Fusheini, Samuel Egyakwa Ankomah, Samuel Kofi Agyei

    Published 2022-07-01
“…Patients who were female (adjusted OR (AOR)=1.27, 95% CI: 1.18 to 1.39, p=0.023), younger (AOR=0.53, 95% CI: 0.19 to 2.11, p=0.012), had a higher level of education (AOR=1.12, 95% CI: 0.65 to 1.90, p=0.034), had a baseline body mass index of 18.5 kg/m2 or above (AOR=1.57, 95% CI: 1.23 to 2.47, p=0.011) and those who did not have a history of TB (AOR=0.47, 95% CI: 0.10 to 0.75, p=0.028) were more likely to have successful MDR-TB treatment outcomes. Conclusions Favourable treatment outcomes for patients with MDR-TB can be achieved in a resource-limited country. Although the recommended WHO target of ≥75% was not met, the current result (71.7% treatment success rate) is still commendable considering all the challenges associated with TB treatment in Ghana.…”

Secreted PD-L1 alleviates inflammatory arthritis in mice through local and systemic AAV gene therapy by Wenjun Li, Wenjun Li, Junjiang Sun, Susi Feng, Ariana La Rosa, Panli Zhang, Eveline Y. Wu, Richard Loeser, Chengwen Li, Chengwen Li, Chengwen Li

    Published 2025-02-01
“…After injection of AAV6/shPD-L1, decreased paw swelling, reduced joint inflammation, and lower levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines in blood were achieved. The therapeutic effect of shPD-L1 was dose dependent via intramuscular treatment with AAV vectors.ConclusionIn conclusion, the findings in this study suggest that intra-articular injection of AAV vectors encoding sPD-L1 results in greater therapeutic benefit on arthritis, and systemic AAV/sPD-L1 is able to block the development of inflammatory arthritis with inhibition of the systemic immune response, underlining the potential of gene therapy with systemic delivery of shPD-L1 via AAV vectors in RA.…”
