Synergistic Fire Retardancy of Bis(1-methoxy-2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidin-4-yl)sebacate and Tris(2,4,6-tribromophenoxy)-1,3,5-triazine/Sb2O3 in HIPS
Published 2020-01-01“…The Py-GC/MS results revealed that NORSM induced the role of synergistic effect; the main mechanisms were as follows: the active radicals such as methoxy radicals and aminyl radicals produced by the pyrolysis of NORSM promote the release of bromine radicals from TTBPC and the formation of HBr and CO2, which improves the flame retardancy of TTBPC/Sb2O3; the above active radicals, together with HBr, quench active free radicals, such as the hydroxyl radical (OH), and decompose the free radical source, which interrupts the chain reaction during combustion and results in a more efficient flame retardant effect in gaseous phase.…”

Two Paediatric Patients with Encephalopathy and Concurrent COVID-19 Infection: Two Sides of the Same Coin?
Published 2021-01-01“…In the second case, however, we postulated that the encephalopathic process was triggered by SARS-CoV-2, as no other cause was identified. With these two contrasting cases, we provide evidence that SARS-CoV-2-associated encephalitis can show ADEM-like changes, which can present during the postinfectious phase of COVID-19 illness. …”

Evaluation and Changes in the Comprehensive Ecological Effects of Agriculture in Urbanizing Areas: A Case Study of the Xi'an Metropolitan Zone, China
Published 2025-01-01“…Using the Xi’an metropolitan zone as a case study, this research evaluates the ecological utility of different agricultural types and examines changes during agricultural transformation. Key findings include: (1) The comprehensive ecological effects of agriculture decline when transitioning from grain planting to urban agriculture, as modern agricultural practices in urbanizing areas are ecologically detrimental compared with natural ecosystems. (2) The shift from grain to urban agriculture, excluding vegetables, generally enhances ecosystem services, complexity, and stability, due to changes in the natural properties of crop types (e.g., trees, vines, or herbs), plant density, biodiversity, and leaf area index. (3) The negative environmental impacts of urban agriculture primarily reduce the comprehensive ecological effects due to unsuitable agricultural practices. …”
