La relation humain-machine au temps du numérique by Olivier Landau

    Published 2022-10-01
“…We therefore successively examine: - the notion of “professional knowledge” undermined by the proletarianization of workers, but also of many other professions; - the impact of “free software” communities’ on production processes; - the new division of labor induced by digital technology and its production processes; - the progressive constitution of polymorphic “invisible machines”, resulting not only from the digitization of production, but also of services and daily life; - digital technology pharmakology, the latter’s curative aspects compensating for the toxic aspects. To conclude, we present various curative actions that allow users of these technologies to adopt them rather than adapt to them. …”

Bayesian solution to the inverse problem and its relation to Backus–Gilbert methods by Luigi Del Debbio, Alessandro Lupo, Marco Panero, Nazario Tantalo

    Published 2025-02-01
“…In this work, we discuss how Backus–Gilbert methods, in particular the variation introduced by some of the authors, relate to the solution based on Gaussian Processes. Both methods allow computing spectral densities smearing with a kernel whose features depend on the detail of the algorithm. …”

Sequential harmonic spin–orbit angular momentum generation in nonlinear optical crystals by Yutao Tang, Zixian Hu, Junhong Deng, Kingfai Li, Guixin Li

    Published 2024-12-01
“…Light beams carrying multiple orbital angular momentum (OAM) states, which can be realized by the structured media with phase singularities, have attracted great attentions in the fields of high dimensional optical information processing. Alternatively, a simple uniaxial crystal can be used to simultaneously generate four OAM states of light through the second harmonic generation and cascaded optical spin–orbit interaction (SOI) processes. …”

Group Authentication Key Agreement Protocol Based on Certificateless Cryptography in UAV Network by Yuecheng WANG, Youwen ZHU, Zhiqiang ZHANG

    Published 2025-01-01
“…In addition, in scenarios where drones withdraw from or join the group, this protocol supports the dynamic alteration of the drone unit and group keys. Since the high-computing-power nodes bear most of the computational and communication overhead during the key negotiation process, they must be distinguished from the general low-computing-power nodes. …”

Using machine learning techniques for DSP software performance prediction at source code level by Weihua Liu, Erh-Wen Hu, Bogong Su, Jian Wang

    Published 2021-01-01
“…To validate the new model, we measure experimentally the execution time of a set of functions selected from PHY DSP Benchmark and run them on TIC64 DSP processor. It is observed that the average absolute relative prediction error is less than 10% between the computed performance from the new model and the actual measured execution time.…”

Dynamic thermalization on noisy quantum hardware by Hugo Perrin, Thibault Scoquart, Andrei I. Pavlov, Nikolay V. Gnezdilov

    Published 2025-03-01
“…Thermal observables occur upon classically averaging quantum mechanical observables over randomized variants of their time evolution that run independently on a digital quantum processor. Using an IBM quantum computer, we experimentally find thermal occupation probabilities with finite positive and negative temperatures defined by the initial state’s energy. …”

    Efficient hybrid-encryption-based optimistic Mix-net protocol by Long-hai LI, Cheng-qiang HUANG, Shang-mei XU, Shao-feng FU

    Published 2014-11-01
“…An efficient hybrid-encryption-based Mix-net is presented that is much faster than all previous Mix-nets with public verifiability when all mix-servers execute the mixing protocol honestly (the usual case). The improvement by taking an “optimistic” and hash-based approach to verify the correctness of mixing is achieved without requiring complex and costly zero-knowledge proofs.Only two element-wise testing processes with low-cost computations of hash functions are involved to make certain messages are not manipulated by a cheating server. An efficient integration of public-key and symmetric-key operations also speeds up the mixing. As a result, the computational task of each mix-server is almost independent of the number of mix-servers except for some negligible tasks.Anyone can verify the correctness of a result rapidly by computing a few exponentiations. The scheme is robust, too. Those characteristics make it very suitable for large scale electronic voting.…”
