Technics and Contingency by Alan Díaz Alva

    Published 2023-12-01
“… This text aims to explore the relationship between technics and contingency within a context where computational technologies often have the effect of domesticating the latter, leading to its statistical reduction within the realm of the probable. I will argue that the post-prosthetic and non-correlational character of these technologies prompts us to pursue a line of inquiry that calls for a different understanding of contingency. …”

Source localization based on time delay estimation in complex environment by Da-wei ZHANG, Chang-chun BAO, Bing-yin XIA

    Published 2014-01-01
“…In order to improve the performance of source localization in noisy and reverberant environments,a novel time delay estimation (TDE) method was proposed. This method is called acoustical transfer function ratio based on statistical model (ATFR-SM).In the proposed algorithm, the noise reduction method based on the statistical model was adopted to reduce the effect of noise on acoustical transfer Function (ATF).In the ATF method, the power spectral density (PSD) was smoothed and whitened to reduce the effect of reverberations.voice activity detection (VAD) was used to distinguish the speech period from the noise period, and the TDE was performed in the speech period to improve the estimation accuracy. Moreover, the proposed TDE method and the linear closed-form method for source localization were combined to constitute a source localization system. The results of performance evaluation show that,in both the noisy and reverberant conditions, the lower percentage of abnormal points (PAP) and lower root mean square error (RMSE) can be achieved by the proposed TDE method than those of the reference methods.Meanwhile, the source localization has higher accuracy than the reference methods.…”

FPGA multi-unit parallel optimization and implementation of post-quantum cryptography CRYSTALS-Kyber by Bin LI, Xiaojie CHEN, Feng FENG, Qinglei ZHOU

    Published 2022-02-01
“…In lattice-based post-quantum cryptography, polynomial multiplication is complicated and time-consuming.In order to improve the computational efficiency of lattice cryptography in practical applications, an FPGA multi-unit parallel optimization and implementation of post-quantum cryptography CRYSTALS-Kyber was proposed.Firstly, the flow of Kyber algorithm was described and the execution of NTT, INTT and CWM were analyzed.Secondly, the overall structure of FPGA was given, the butterfly arithmetic unit was designed by pipeline technology, and the Barrett modulus reduction and CWM scheduling optimization were used to improve the calculation efficiency. At the same time, 32 butterfly arithmetic units were executed in parallel, which shortens the overall calculation cycle. Finally, the multi-RAM channel was optimized to improve the memory access efficiency with alternate data access control and RAM resource reuse. In addition, with the loosely coupled architecture, the overall operation scheduling was realized by DMA communication. The experimental results and analysis show that the proposed scheme implemented can complete NTT, INTT and CWM operations within 44, 49, and 163 clock cycles, which is superior to other schemes and has high energy efficiency ratio.…”
