Philanthropic foundations as field-builders: insights from two emblematic Italian cases
Published 2025-07-01“…Next, the twin concepts of depoliticization/politicization frame discussion of the hypothesis that, in both cases studied, the foundations’ involvement in policymaking entails a discursive depoliticization of public action and a governmental and social politicization of their own actions. The data analysis appears to confirm the research hypotheses, raising questions surrounding the actual innovative reach of philanthropic foundations and the relationship they establish with public actors. …”

Measuring the system size dependence of the strangeness production with ALICE
Published 2025-01-01“…The system size dependence of strangeness production in highenergy collisions was studied using Run 2 data from the ALICE experiment at the LHC. The analysis examines the ratios of strange hadron yields to pion yields as a function of mid-rapidity charged particle multiplicity ⟨dNch/dη)|η|&0.5, offering insights into the mechanisms driving strangeness enhancement across different collision systems (pp, p–Pb and Pb–Pb). …”

Research on Intelligent Networking Architecture for the Integrated Space-Terrestrial Networks
Published 2022-09-01“…The integrated space-terrestrial networks (ISTN), characterized by the high-dynamic of topology, the diversifi cation of services and the constrained resource of satellites, face great challenges in the integration of networking. To achieve network capabilities of intelligent reconstruction, on-demand adjustment, eff ective management and control, the intelligent networking method for ISTN by applying SDN, NFV and artifi cial intelligence were studied.In-depth analysis of the development status of the world-earth fusion network, an intelligent and virtualization-driven world-earth fusion network architecture was proposed. On this basis, to addressed the challenges of intelligent networking brought about by network element heterogeneity, large space-time scale, and diff erentiated service requirements, the multidimensional heterogeneous data plane resource pooling, multi-domain collaborative sensing function on-demand deployment, multi-layer multi-domain hybrid network autonomous control, centralized and distributed network intelligence for "cloud-edge" collaboration, etc.were proposed, which realized on-demand reconstruction of the world-earth fusion network and intelligent service guarantee capabilities.…”

Contact plan design based on bi-directional particle swarm optimization in satellite network
Published 2019-08-01“…Aiming at the problems of time-varying topology, intermittent connection, and constrained resource in satellite network,a contact plan design (CPD) scheme based on bi-directional particle optimization (BPSO) algorithm was proposed.Firstly, the task-based time-expanded graph (TEG) model was constructed through the analysis of resource-constrained time-varying satellite network.Next, available contact plan (CP) in satellite network were generated through initialization, coding and repairing by considering the discreteness of network topology and the limitation of node resources. Then,an evaluation function was designed according to the characteristics of the execution task to distinguish whether the generated available CP was good or bad. Finally, the bits to be corrected in the worst location were determined according to the sparse characteristics of links in CP,and the CP was continuously modified by the proposed BPSO algorithm to optimize the performance of spatial data transmission. The simulation results show that the proposed BPSO-based CPD scheme can effectively reduce the task delivery time and increase the task arrival rate.…”
