Clustering of Floating Tracer Due to Mesoscale Vortex and Submesoscale Fields
Published 2020-02-01“…We found that the mesoscale vortices do not prevent clustering but significantly modify its rate and spatial pattern. We also demonstrated that even weak surface‐velocity divergence has to be taken into account to avoid significant errors in model predictions of the floating tracer patterns. …”

Tropical precipitation extremes: Response to SST‐induced warming in aquaplanet simulations
Published 2017-04-01“…Abstract Scaling of tropical precipitation extremes in response to warming is studied in aquaplanet experiments using the global Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) model. We show how the scaling of precipitation extremes is highly sensitive to spatial and temporal averaging: while instantaneous grid point extreme precipitation scales more strongly than the percentage increase (∼7% K−1) predicted by the Clausius‐Clapeyron (CC) relationship, extremes for zonally and temporally averaged precipitation follow a slight sub‐CC scaling, in agreement with results from Climate Model Intercomparison Project (CMIP) models. …”

Spatiotemporal, environmental, and behavioral predictors of Varroa mite intensity in managed honey bee apiaries.
Published 2025-01-01“…We examine risk factors for Varroa infestation using apiary inspection data collected across the state of Illinois over 2018-2019, and we test the models using inspection data from 2020-2021. After accounting for spatial and temporal trends, we find that most environmental factors (e.g., floral quality, insecticide load) are not predictive of Varroa intensity, while lower numbers of nearby apiaries and several beekeeper behaviors (e.g., supplemental feeding and mite monitoring/treatment) are protective against Varroa. …”

Estimation of long-term gridded cloud radiative kernel and radiative effects based on cloud fraction
Published 2025-06-01“…By leveraging the correlation between the top-of-atmosphere (TOA) shortwave radiative parameters and surface radiation, combined with high-precision fused CF datasets from multiple satellite sources, we construct a CF-dependent model to refine DSSR estimates. Based on this model, we construct GCF-CRKs using the CF as the sole perturbation parameter to isolate the CF CRE. …”
