GLIMPSE: An Ultrafaint ≃105 M⊙ Pop III Galaxy Candidate and First Constraints on the Pop III UV Luminosity Function at z ≃ 6–7 by Seiji Fujimoto, Rohan P. McQuinn, Julian B. Muñoz, Priyamvada Natarajan, Alberto Saldana-Lopez, Katherine A. Suess, Marta Volonteri, Adi Zitrin

    Published 2025-01-01
“…These properties indicate the presence of a nascent, metal-deficient young stellar population (<5 Myr) with a stellar mass of ≃10 ^5 M _⊙ . Intriguingly, this source deviates significantly from the extrapolated UV–metallicity relation derived from recent JWST observations at z = 4–10, consistent with UV enhancement by a top-heavy Pop III initial mass function or the presence of an extremely metal-poor active galactic nucleus. …”

Prebiotic properties and antioxidant effect of crude extracts and polysaccharides from Agaricus bisporus and Pleurotus ostreatus mushrooms by Yousra A. El-Maradny, Amr S. Abouakkada, Aleya Abdel Gawad Abbass, Amani Farouk Abaza, Esmail M. El-Fakharany

    Published 2025-08-01
“…These findings demonstrate that polysaccharides from A. bisporus and P. ostreatus are promising candidates for functional food development. These extracts offer a multifaceted approach to promoting gut health and reducing oxidative stress through selectively stimulating beneficial Lactobacillus species while inhibiting the growth of pathogens and exerting significant antioxidant effects.…”

    Finding RB/Rpi-blb1/Rpi-sto1-like sequences in conventionally bred potato varieties by O. Y. Antonova, N. S. Klimenko, Z. Z. Evdokimova, L. I. Kostina, T. A. Gavrilenko

    Published 2018-09-01
“…At the same time there is a high probability of finding geno types with the Rpi-sto1 gene (functional homologues of  Rpi-blb1) among conventionally bred varieties because for about 40 years S. stoloniferum has been used in breeding as a source of the Rysto and Ry-fsto genes of the extreme resistance to the most important viral pathogen PVY. …”

Effects of preoperative and postoperative resistance exercise interventions on recovery of physical function in patients undergoing abdominal surgery for cancer: a systematic revie... by David Stephensen, Ferhana Hashem, Kevin Corbett, Amanda Bates, Michelle George, Ralph Peter Hobbs, Malcolm Hopkins, Irena Hutchins, David Peter Lowery, Tracy Pellatt-Higgins, Charitini Stavropoulou, Ian Swaine, Lee Tomlinson, Hazel Woodward, Haythem Ali

    Published 2018-12-01
“…Objective To systematically review the effects of preoperative and postoperative resistance exercise training on the recovery of physical function in patients undergoing abdominal surgery for cancer.Data sources A systematic review of English articles using Medline, Physiotherapy Evidence Database, CINAHL and the Cochrane Library electronic databases was undertaken.Eligibility criteria for selecting studies Studies were included if they used a randomised, quasi-randomised or controlled trial study design and compared the effects of a muscle-strengthening exercise intervention (±other therapy) with a comparative non-exercise group; involved adult participants (≥18 years) who had elected to undergo abdominal surgery for cancer; and used muscle strength, physical function, self-reported functional ability, range of motion and/or a performance-based test as an outcome measure. Results Following screening of titles and abstracts of the 588 publications retrieved from the initial search, 24 studies met the inclusion criteria and were accessed for review of the full-text version of the article, and 2 eligible studies met the inclusion criteria and were included in the review. …”
