Effect of Reforestation Tree Species on the Distribution and Stability of Purple Soil Aggregates by ZHONG Yujian, HE Feng, HAN Guangzhong, ZHAO Xia, YANG Fan

    Published 2024-12-01
“…These indicators of aggregate stability consistently demonstrated that the stability of soil aggregates in the artificial forests was enhanced, with a specific ranking of CS > NA > MF > CF, indicating that CS and NA were both relatively superior. (3) The content and stability of dominant soil aggregates were extremely significantly positively correlated with the content of NOC, and extremely significantly negatively correlated with the content of soil gravel (p < 0.01). [Conclusion] The weathering of purple soil following afforestation provides the material foundation for aggregate formation, while the humus formed in the soil of artificial forests acts as a binding agent, promoting the formation of large aggregates and the maintenance of their stability.…”

Accumulation and Transport of Cd, Pb, As, and Cr in Different Maize Varieties in Southwest China by Qi Liu, Sheng Wang, Jijiang Zhou, Li Bao, Wenbing Zhou, Naiming Zhang

    Published 2025-01-01
“…The accumulation of HMs in maize was primarily derived from human activities such as the extraction, storage, and smelting of non-ferrous metals, while the HMs in soil parent material and weathering products played a secondary role. The yield of the tested maize varieties ranged from 7377.6 to 11,037.0 kg·hm−2, with M5 (Haoyu 1511) achieving the highest yield. …”

Evaluation of hydro-chemical facies and surface water quality dynamics using multivariate statistical approaches in Southern Nigeria by E. A Ubuoh, F. U Nwogu, E. Q Ossai-Abeh, J. C Ikwuemesi, A. O Oke, J. D Umoh

    Published 2024-12-01
“…From plots and ionic ratio, the major hydrochemical process of water chemistry during wet and dry seasons was rock-water interaction arising majorly from weathering processes. Ionic ratios of Ca2+ and Mg2+ 1, Ca2+ and HCO2− [1:2], Ca2+ + Mg2+ and HCO3− + SO42− [1:1], revealed dissolution of dolomite as their common origin, with total cations in wet and dry seasons ranging between 43 and 57% and total anions: 37.3–62.7, with dry season dominance. …”
