On the Adsorption Kinetics and Equilibrium of Polyaromatic Hydrocarbons from Aqueous Solution
Published 2011-06-01“…The interactions between the studied pollutants and the activated carbon seemed to be controlled by two factors, viz. aromaticity and water solubility. As a general rule, the higher the number of aromatic rings in the polycyclic hydrocarbon, the more favoured the adsorbate–carbon interactions. …”

A Novel Paramagnetic Substrate for Detecting Myeloperoxidase Activity in Vivo
Published 2012-09-01“…Characterization of the resulting probe (bis-HTrp-DTPA(Gd)) in vitro using nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy and enzyme kinetic analysis showed that bis-HTrp-DTPA(Gd) (1) improves solubility in water; (2) acts as a substrate for both horseradish peroxidase and MPO enzymes; (3) induces cross-linking of proteins in the presence of MPO; (4) produces oxidation products, which bind to plasma proteins; and (5) unlike bis-5HT-DTPA(Gd), does not follow first-order reaction kinetics. …”

Promoting Seed Germination of Some Plant Species by Rhamnolipid Produced by Pseudomonas aeruginosa
Published 2024-01-01“…Different concentrations of rhamnolipid ranging from 0.25 to 1.00 g/L were assessed, with distilled water acting as a control. After treatment of seeds, results showed that applying 0.25 g/L of rhamnolipid can significantly increase seed germination to 100% on the fourth day of sowing okra and lettuce, and on the fifth day of sowing onion seeds, compared to control groups that recorded 60%, 50%, and 55%, respectively. …”

Effect of Source Type on Pore Structure and Properties of Aerated Geopolymer Concrete
Published 2024-01-01“…In addition, unless its lowest density, aerated geopolymer mix made with fly ash and silica fume in combination absorbed less water than the other investigated mixes. Adding superplasticizer to the geopolymer mix helped in enhancing its pore structure by making the pores smaller, their irregularity lesser, and their number higher. …”

Study of Durability of Concrete with Fly Ash as Fine Aggregate under Alternative Interactions of Freeze-Thaw and Carbonation
Published 2019-01-01“…The carbonation depth under alternative freeze-thaw and carbonation is positively correlated with the carbonation time and the water-to-cement ratio. However, as the reactant is continuously consumed due to the expansion of crystalline ice and CaCO3, alternative cycles result in the appearance of many more new cracks in the concrete.…”
