Prevalence and predictors of permanent pacemaker implantation in patients with aortic stenosis undergoing transcatheter aortic valve implantation: a prospective cohort study by Erlend Eriksen, Ronak Rajani, Sahrai Saeed, Svein Rotevatn, Daanyaal Wasim, Øyvind Bleie, Abukar Mohamed Ali, Erik Jerome Stene Packer, Håvard Keilegavlen

    Published 2025-02-01
“…Among the 548 eligible patients, 173 (31.6%) underwent pacemaker implantation ≤30 days following TAVI, evenly distributed between females and males (29.6% vs 33.6%, p=0.317), with higher implant rates at low-volume phase (2012–2015) and lower implant rates at high-volume phase (2016–2019) (45.8% vs 23.9%, p<0.001). …”

Study on Applicability of Xin'anjiang Model and Tank Model in Flood Forecasting in Majiagou Reservoir by MA Jinghang, XIAN Yongcai, HE Xueping, LIU Ming, HAN Muyuan, DU Bailin, RUAN Bingnan, XU Liujia, WU Lei

    Published 2023-01-01
“…Flood forecasting is one of the important non-engineering flood control measures and is the main basis for flood control command and decision-making.In order to avoid the uncertainty of the prediction results of a single model, the Majiagou Reservoir in Chenggu County was taken as the object to simulate the daily runoff and flood process from 2019 to 2021 by using the Xin'anjiang model and tank model respectively, and the simulation results and accuracy of the two models were compared by using the model parameters calibrated and optimized by the genetic algorithm. In the daily runoff simulation, the simulation effect of the tank model is better than that of the Xin'anjiang model, with a relative error of flood volume of less than 16%,a relative error of flood peak of less than 4%,a difference of peak time of less than 1 h,and a Nash-Sutcliffe efficiency coefficient of greater than 0.58,all of which meet the evaluation accuracy requirements of the Standard for Hydrological Information and Hydrological Forecasting, and the simulation effect of deluge in the reservoir is ideal. In the flood process simulation, the difference of peak time between the two models is similar;the simulation effect of the Xin'anjiang model is smoother, and the flood volume and flood peak simulated by the tank model are closer to the measured flow process. On the whole, the tank model is more suitable for flood forecasting in Majiagou Reservoir than the Xin'anjiang model.…”

Determination of optimum shape of pinned parabolic arch structures under uniformly distributed loads: a blend of cost and functionality by Victor Mmerichukwu Mbachu, Victor Odinaka Okonkwo

    Published 2024-04-01
“…An optimum orientation of the elements of two-hinged parabolic arch structures was selected based on the manufacturing cost, which was adjudged by the volume of concrete consumed. Stress – strain analysis was used to compute for the volume of the arch, while the usefulness or benefit of the arch was taken as the ratio of the frames’ cross sectional area to their perimeter. …”

Capillary wave tweezer by Bethany Orme, Hamdi Torun, Matthew Unthank, Yong-Qing Fu, Bethan Ford, Prashant Agrawal

    Published 2024-05-01
“…In this work, we introduce the concept of capillary wave tweezers, where mm-scale capillary wave fields are dynamically manipulated to control the position of microparticles in a liquid volume. Capillary waves are generated in an open liquid volume using low frequency vibrations (in the range of 10–100 Hz) to trap particles underneath the nodes of the capillary waves. …”

Research on Fracture and Energy Evolution of Rock Containing Natural Fractures under Cyclic Loading Condition by Xueliang Li, Yu Wang, Shuo Xu, Haonan Yang, Bo Li

    Published 2021-01-01
“…The dissipated energy is correlated to all kinds of natural fracture (i.e., opening-mode, closing-mode, and filling-mode), and it decreases with the increase of the total natural fracture volume. The dissipated energy presents a first slow and then faster pattern as the cycle number grows. …”
