Novel full reference perceptual quality metric for audio-visual asynchrony by Yao-du WEI, Xiang XIE, Jing-ming KUANG, Xin-lu HAN

    Published 2012-02-01
“…A full reference model was proposed to evaluate the perceptual quality of audiovisual asynchrony.A standard synchronization process was used to determine the time difference between audio and video. The mapping between the time difference and the perceptual quality was derived by co-inertia analysis. The co-inertia analysis extracted the most related component from audio and video features, and then formed a mapping for each audiovisual sequence.Audiovisual contents were divided into three categories:clean speech, non speech and mixed speech. The clean speech category was further split into two subcategories.Audio and video features were chosen separately for each category.Subjective test results showed that the proposed model conforms well with subjective results.…”

Complexity control method of random forest based HEVC by Peng WEN, Zongju PENG, Fen CHEN, Gangyi JIANG, Mei YU

    Published 2019-02-01
“…High efficiency video coding (HEVC) has high computational complexity, and fast algorithm cannot perform video coding under restricted coding time. Therefore,a complexity control method of HEVC based on random forest was proposed.Firstly, three random forest classifiers with different prediction accuracy were trained to provide various coding configurations for coding tree unit (CTU).Then,an average depth-complexity model was built to allocate CTU complexity. Finally, the CTU coding configuration, determined by the smoothness, average depth, bit, and CTU-level accumulated coding error, was used to complete complexity control. The experimental results show that the proposed method has better complexity control precision, and outperforms the state-of-the-art method in terms of video quality.…”

H.264 rate-distortion model based joint source channel coding scheme over wireless channels by GAO Xue-juan, ZHUO Li, SHEN Lan-sun

    Published 2008-01-01
“…A new rate-distortion model of H.264 encoder was firstly set up according to the rate distortion(R-D) charac-teristics of H.264.Then,the end-to-end video transmission distortion was analyzed and based on the R-D model of the H.264 encoder and the error combat characteristics of the Turbo code,an adaptive joint source channel coding(JSCC) over wireless channel was proposed, which could optimize the rate allocation of the available network bandwidth be-tween source coding and channel coding adaptively according to the actual condition of current wireless channel,so as to improve the robustness of the video transmission. The experiment results indicate that, compared with fix choice of channel coding rate, the proposed JSCC scheme is can greatly improve the transmission robustness and achieve better reconstructed video quality at the receiver.…”

LTE resource-aware dynamic adaptive wireless multimedia streaming system by Bingjiang CAI

    Published 2021-01-01
“…The quality of user experience in adaptive video streaming, to a large extent, depends on the accuracy of the end-to-end bandwidth estimation. However, bandwidth estimation is very challenging in highly dynamic LTE network.LTE resource-aware dynamic adaptive wireless multimedia streaming system was designed and implemented in which the LTE resource block monitor module keeps monitoring the cell-wide physical layer resource utility. The rate scaling mechanism mapped the throughput to an estimation of available bandwidth and the rate adaption algorithm selected the most appropriate representation combining current available bandwidth with buffer state and played a trade-off between video quality and the risk of stalling. The experimental results on the prototype system show that comparing with the two baseline algorithms, the proposed system achieves the highest average video bitrate while maintaining a fairly low stalling rate, and effectively enhances the quality of experience.…”
