Respiratory dysfunction in whiplash associated disorders (WAD) with cervical plexus syndrome – A case report
Published 2025-03-01“…In 2019, his condition deteriorated, with significantly increased pain and dyspnea leading to further evaluations that included laboratory studies and consultations with specialists in neurosurgery, neurology, pulmonology, neurophysiology, ENT, general internal medicine, cardiology, radiology, speech pathology, physical medicine, orthopedic surgery, and hand surgery at three separate academic centers in Norway.Eventually, the patient was diagnosed with a condition that is regularly observed among patients referred to our office for evaluation and surgical treatment of chronic, whiplash related pain, and that we propose to label Cervical Plexus Syndrome. One year following exploration and neurolysis of sensory nerves to the right and left superficial cervical plexus, the patient remains pain free, with unimpeded speech and breathing as demonstrated by postoperative spirometry and video recordings.Although the underlying pathophysiology remains unclear, we report what we believe to be the first successful surgical treatment of serious respiratory dysfunction from pain generators in tissue that historically is considered anatomically and functionally separate from the mechanics of breathing. …”

Procedural tactics in the investigation of property damage to a law enforcement officer
Published 2023-06-01“…It has been found that the tactical techniques which should be used during investigative experiments in the investigation of intentional destruction or damage to property of a law enforcement officer are: repeated conduct of experiments and control over their implementation; creation of an environment which will facilitate the provision of as much detailed information as possible about the circumstances of criminal offences; asking questions to a participant of an investigative experiment with a view to detailing his/her explanations and evaluating the answers; the use of models, application of scientific and technical means and involvement of specialists with special knowledge in the relevant field of science; application of technical means of recording, in particular, continuous video recording.…”

mHealth knowledge and usage in maternal healthcare delivery: perspectives and experiences of healthcare practitioners in Ghana
Published 2025-01-01“…In each of these regions, one urban and one rural setting were selected to ascertain pertinent data from a wide range of maternity health practitioners and directors of health services operating within these regions.Participants Purposive sampling technique was used to recruit 32 participants, who fall into two primary groups: directors of health services (n=9) and maternity health practitioners (23).Results The findings revealed that maternal healthcare providers were familiar with and frequently used mHealth technologies (typically video calls/conferences and text messages). mHealth was considered a useful tool in maternal healthcare as it enhanced the efficiency of service delivery and improved practitioners’ performance. mHealth facilities eased access to digital medical information, user-friendly interfaces and the ability to facilitate remote consultations. …”
