Study on River System Flood Forecasting Scheme for Longtan Hydropower Station Interval in Hongshui River
Published 2024-01-01“…Longtan Hydropower Station is a flood control project in the Pearl River Basin, but there is currently a lack of a comprehensive river system flood forecasting scheme. In order to give full play to the flood control and storage function of Longtan Hydropower Station, tributary control stations such as Leigongtan,Moyang,Pinglihe,Pinghu, and Xianrenqiao are selected, and the key areas of concern are determined through the analysis of important sub-intervals.The river system flood forecasting scheme for the Longtan Hydropower Station interval is constructed by using the Xin'an River three-source runoff generation model,three-source lag routing convergence model, and Maskingen convergence algorithm. The research results show that the proportion of the maximum inflow flood volume of Longtan Hydropower Station is usually in uncontrolled intervals, followed by the tributaries in Guizhou Province (Mengjiang River,Bawang River,Caodu River, and Liudong River),which are the focus of flood forecasting. The total average relative peak flow error and the average relative flood volume error in the river system flood forecasting scheme are both 10%,and the average deterministic coefficients are above 0.75.The overall results are relatively accurate. Therefore, the river system flood forecasting scheme for the Longtan Hydropower Station interval can be applied to real-time flood operation forecasting, and it lays a solid foundation for further improving the “forecast, early warning, rehearsal, and contingency plan” capability.…”

Copula-based Wetness-Dryness Encountering Analysis of Upstream Runoff in the Pearl River Delta
Published 2021-01-01“…Study on the wetness-dryness encountering of the main tributaries of the Pearl River (i.e.,the West River (WR),North River (NR) and East River (ER)) under the changing environment,is conducive to the allocation and regulation of water resources in the Pearl River Delta(PRD) during the dry season to ensure the water supply security of the PRD city cluster.Based on the monthly average inflow of the WR,NR and ER,the Copula functions were used to construct the two-dimensional and three-dimensional joint distribution of the inflow of the three rivers at the annual, flood and dry period scales, and the laws of the wetness-dryness encountering of the three rivers were explored. The results show that the Frank Copula function can fit the two-dimensional and three-dimensional joint distribution of the upstream inflow better. The probability of synchronized wetness-dryness two-dimensional combinations of WR,NR and ER are higher when compared to that of the three-dimensional combination of wetness-dryness.The 3-dimensional wetness-dryness encounter combinations of “extreme dryness-extreme dryness-more dryness” and “extreme dryness-more dryness-more dryness” are more likely to happen in dry years. The upstream inflow under the 3-dimensional wetness-dryness encounter combinations of “extreme dryness-extreme dryness-more dryness” and “extreme dryness-more dryness-more dryness” are less during the dry season, which would pose greater challenge for the cities water supply in the PRD.…”

Supervisory Monitoring Technology System for Key Drinking Water Sources in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area
Published 2021-01-01“…In order to resolve the contradiction between the high demand for water resources, water ecology and water environment in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) and the insufficient supervision capabilities in the water conservancy industry, and achieve the transformation from passive management to active management of key drinking water sources in the GBA,this paper carries out supervisory monitoring of key drinking water sources through remote sensing macro monitoring,UAV cruise monitoring,fixed-point monitoring and other intelligent monitoring technology system. The results show that:①After application of a supervisory monitoring technology system for key drinking water sources, the full-coverage,dynamic and quasi-real-time monitoring of 35 key water sources in the GBA is realized, and the risk sources and water problems can be identified efficiently.②For identifying five suspected risk sources in water source areas, namely construction projects, key river (reservoir) tributaries, temporary shipping stops, material stacking places, agricultural production activities by remote sensing macro monitoring and UAV cruise monitoring, the accuracy rate is 65.7%.③For the chlorophyll a and CODMn monitoring of the water source of main Guangzhou-Dongguan-Huizhou Dongjiangbei River by remote sensing macro monitoring and artificial fixed-point monitoring during the same period, the monitoring results of the two technical means are in good agreement. Therefore, with application of the technology system in supervision and management of key drinking water sources, the smart water conservancy supervision and business management are deeply integrated, and the effective technical means for supervision and management are available.…”

Spatial and Temporal Distribution of Sand Mining in Poyang Lake and Its Impact on Lake Basin Morphology Based on Remote Sensing Images
Published 2024-08-01“…The results show that: ① sand mining vessels were mainly distributed in the north lake part of Poyang Lake from 2000 to 2006, and the number of sand mining vessels plummeted in 2008 due to the impact of the banning policy, and 2016 was the peak of sand mining activities, in which the policy regulation is the main factor for the change of spatio-temporal distribution and number and scale of sand mining vessels in Poyang Lake from 2000 to 2021; ② the human sand mining activities have affected to a certain extent the hydrological sediment balance of Poyang Lake to a certain extent; ③ sand mining activities led to a decrease in the beach area in the inlet channel of Poyang Lake and Songmen Mountain area, while the net increase in the beach area in the southeast area of Tangyin was about 7.95 km2, mainly due to siltation caused by the spreading of sediments from inlet tributaries of the lake. This study not only assesses the effectiveness of the regulation of sand mining activities in Poyang Lake in recent years, but also provides a reference for the regulation of sand mining activities in similar waters and the assessment of its effectiveness.…”
