Ticam2 ablation facilitates monocyte exhaustion recovery after sepsis by Blake A. Caldwell, Susanti Ie, Amy Lucas, Liwu Li

    Published 2025-01-01
“…To determine the impact of TICAM2 ablation on innate epigenetic memory in sepsis, we measured genome-wide DNA methylation in bone marrow monocytes and found that Ticam2 -/- cells exhibit a unique profile of altered methylation at CEBPE binding sites and regulatory features for key immune genes such as Dmkn and Btg1. Bearing human translational relevance, a case study of time course blood samples collected from a sepsis patient presenting with SIRS and a positive qSOFA revealed a similar effect in human monocytes, which steadily transition into an exhausted memory characterized by a CD38high; CX3CR1low; HLA-DRlow state within four days of hospital admittance. …”

A High-Throughput Method as a Diagnostic Tool for HIV Detection in Patient-Specific Induced Pluripotent Stem Cells Generated by Different Reprogramming Methods by Daniela Hübscher, Sabine Rebs, Luis Haupt, Thomas Borchert, Celina Isabell Guessoum, Franziska Treu, Steffen Köhne, Andreas Maus, Mario Hambrecht, Samuel Sossalla, Ralf Dressel, Angela Uy, Mark Jakob, Gerd Hasenfuss, Katrin Streckfuss-Bömeke

    Published 2019-01-01
“…Induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) provide a unique opportunity for generation of patient-specific cells for use in translational purposes. We aimed to compare iPSCs generated by different reprogramming methods regarding their reprogramming efficiency, pluripotency capacity, and the possibility to use high-throughput PCR-based methods for detection of human pathogenic viruses. iPSCs from skin fibroblasts (FB), peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs), or mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) were generated by using three different reprogramming systems including chromosomal integrating and nonintegrating methods. …”

Carte, autor şi model uman în Predosloviile vechi româneşti by Laura Lazăr Zăvăleanu

    Published 2013-12-01
“…The prefaces of the Romanian ancient texts often feature the dialectic relation between the book and the writer – in the wide connotation of the term, including the editor of the text, the copyist, the translator, the type-setter and, of course, the original author of the ‘escort text’ – and configures, from various typologies, an ideal human model upon which the entire motivation of writing is being set up. …”

Evolution of the RNA alternative decay cis element into a high-affinity target for the immunomodulatory protein Roquin by Jan-Niklas Tants, Katharina Friedrich, Jasmina Neumann, Andreas Schlundt

    Published 2025-12-01
“…RNA cis elements play pivotal roles in regulatory processes, e.g. in transcriptional and translational regulation. Two stem-looped cis elements, the constitutive and alternative decay elements (CDE and ADE, respectively) are shape-specifically recognized in mRNA 3’ untranslated regions (UTRs) by the immune-regulatory protein Roquin. …”

    Non3 is an essential Drosophila gene required for proper nucleolus assembly by E. N. Andreyeva, A. A. Ogienko, A. A. Yushkova, J. V. Popova, G. A. Pavlova, E. N. Kozhevnikova, A. V. Ivankin, M. Gatti, A. V. Pindyurin

    Published 2019-03-01
“…We also demonstrate that the Non3 protein localizes to the nucleolus of larval brain cells and it is required for proper nucleolar localization of Fibrillarin, a protein important for post-translational modification and processing of rRNAs. In summary, we generated a number of genetic and biochemical tools that were exploited for an initial characterization of Non3, and will be instrumental for future functional studies on this gene and its protein product.…”
