The Foundations of Probability with Black Swans
Published 2010-01-01“…The finitely additive part assigns however more weight to rare events than do standard distributions and in that sense explains the persistent observation of ‘‘power laws’’ and ‘‘heavy tails’’ that eludes classic theory. The axioms extend earlier work by Chichilnisky (1996, 2000, 2002, 2009) to encompass the foundation of subjective probability and axiomatic treatments of subjective probability by Villegas (1964), De Groot (1963), Dubins and Savage (1965), Dubins (1975) Purves and Sudderth (1976) and of choice under uncertainty by Arrow (1971).…”

Asian Options Pricing and Parameter Estimation of Uncertain Mean-Reverting Currency Model With Exponential Ornstein–Uhlenbeck Exchange Rate
Published 2025-01-01“…This paper introduces an uncertain mean-reverting currency model that incorporates floating domestic and foreign interest rates along with an exponential Ornstein–Uhlenbeck exchange rate process, all grounded in uncertainty theory. Pricing formulas for both Asian call and put options are derived within this framework. …”

Analysis of Support Reaction Curves considering Time-Varying Effect of Shotcrete
Published 2020-01-01“…Therefore, in this study, considering the time-varying characteristics of shotcrete, combined with the elastic-plastic theory and the space effect of excavation surface, the calculation equation describing the support reaction curve is given. …”

Analyzing accusation patterns between Hamas and Israel during the Al-Aqsa flood operation
Published 2025-02-01“…This study introduced a rigorously defined framework for categorizing accusations in conflict discourse, contributing to both rhetorical theory and conflict communication strategies. Future research should further explore the evolving dynamics of accusation strategies, media influence, and public opinion in conflict zones to improve communication and promote reconciliation efforts.…”

CONCEPTUAL APPROACHES TO THE CAREER STUDIES
Published 2016-12-01“…In the study it has been identified three types of career of a sociology graduate: a teacher (usually at university), a scientist and researcher, and a practicing sociologist. Using the developed theory the authors give their own definition of a career as a process of successive changes in official or professional (intra- and interinstitutional) status of an individual based on the development of professional competencies, taking into account his personal interests and needs of organization.…”

q-Hyperconvexity in Quasipseudometric Spaces and Fixed Point Theorems
Published 2012-01-01“…In this paper, we continue our studies of this concept, generalizing further known results about hyperconvexity from the metric setting to our theory. In particular, in the present paper, we consider subspaces of q-hyperconvex spaces and also present some fixed point theorems for nonexpansive self-maps on a bounded q-hyperconvex quasipseudometric space. …”

Effect of Contact Preference among Heterogeneous Individuals on Social Contagions
Published 2022-01-01“…Thus, we propose a social contagion model which takes the heterogeneity of individual influence and contact preference into account, and make a theoretical analysis of the social spreading process by developing an edge-based compartmental theory. We find that the competition between simple contagion and complex contagion leads to the emergence of crossover phase transition phenomena when the influence of ordinary individuals is low: it changes from being hybrid to continuous, then to hybrid, and eventually to continuous phase transition with the increase of the contact probability of homogeneous individuals. …”
